I have a 2011 Canam Outlander 800 Max. My wife has the same but is a 2013 and a friend has the same but is a 2007. The cooling fan for 2007 and 2013 will keep running after a good ride (when you shut the engine off and then turn the key to the on position) and wiil then shut off upon cooling down.

My 2011 does no do this. The local dealer says this is proper for the 2011. I've not checked with BRP yet.

Any comments out there relative to this subject?

Thanks

They did change them to behave like that in 2009 or 2010. On my 2010 I added a switch that provides 12v to the fan with the key off so you can cool down the coolant in the rad after stopping. Keep in mind that because the water pump isn't turning you're only cooling down a portion of your coolant but every little bit helps sometimes.

My 2007 max xt shuts off the fan when you turn the key, not sure why yours is different. Weird.

But if your fan is running and you turn the key off to kill the engine then turn the key back to run the fan should keep running.
