A Canadian JF2 sniper just set a new record for a kill on the battlefield at 3450 meters! With his McMillan TAC-50 he knocked down an ISIS insurgent on the Iraqi battlefield while working with Iraqi security forces. Calculating windage, distance, temperature, rate of drop from his elevated position and even curvature of the earth his shot took just under 10 seconds to reach its target. The shot was confirmed by outside data and breaks the old record set in 2009 by a British Sniper, Craig Harrison at 2475 meters in Afghanistan. Harrison had broken the previous record which stood for a fairly long time by another Canadian, Rob Furlong whose record of 2430 meters took place during Operation Anaconda. Congrats to the JF2 sniper for a shot that may never be equaled. The snipers name has not been released as per all information blackouts on special operation personnel.

I ran some numbers on that shot. So a 750gr A max with a MV of 2820fps , 200 yard zero,, would need approximately 195moa or 7137 inches hold over. The bullet would still have 1438 foot pounds of energy and moving at 900 fps. A 10 mph cross wind would add 50ish moa. One hell of a shot.

Maybe only made again in the future with one of the new smart guns being developed by the US military? Its coming or may already be happening.

Personally witnessed some training and it is well known that Canadians can handle distance shots.

Wishing I had the discipline

As a tax payer you should thank him for that. The cost of running a helicopter to do that would be crazy. That guy did that for around $5!

unfortunately you have a valid point as the west will never "tame" these guys to think like the west. Been going on for much longer than N.America was discovered.

Really don't need to spin this into a political stance on the occupation do we? The White Feather started it, a Canadian is just improving on the skill. Unreal skill. Rob Furlong has a school for the public if anyone seriously wants to find out what it takes for this level of shooting. Damn proud moment in history again for the Canadian Military. Really would like to see the video and hear the spotters reaction when contact was made down range lol.
