That's mean,I think they prefer to be called salt water pakys.
I don't think so. It's amazing how many people don't know much about this country and the people who live here( that wasn'ta shot at you outdoors). There are lazy people all over, and in every province. Many people from, not just NL, but the entire east coast are hard working and great people who want to get ahead in life and believe in the canadian way. I've been across Canada many times in my life time and seen great things and people in every province. Like someone said, the government has got us fighting each other. The government on the east coast has screwed them over, just like when The NDP was in power here.

I think it would do the opposite of move slower. It would remove the bureaucracy of opposing party politics and create a clear definition of what the people want. Yay or Nay… no banter or hundred page bills. It would allow the system to be efficient.

As far as politicians being afraid, it would also remove that because the system would solely focus on the constituents majority vote and remove left right policy agendas and restrict politicians to being the best representatives of their region and only that… They would no longer be a representative of their party because political parties would cease to exist.

Most problems within countries boils down to political party agendas, corporate conglomerate agendas and international financiers. The push for fringe minority group benefits would again be placed on a vote by the constituents as would most national financial agendas.

Of course such a system would require a better educated public whom has unlimited access to information without bias. Converting to it could take a few years. But we can look at examples such as National Socialist Germany in the late 1930’s where they went from being one of the poorest countries in the developed world to being one of the richest in 5 years.
I like this thought process, what is in place is badly flawed. BC NDP just made a deal with 2 green party member's to continue that provincial spiral.

Low information voters is a serious problem, a couple of things could be put in place that would help. You lose your voting privilege if you are incarcerated or dependant on social assistance.

Only one gun law, you commit a crime with a gun...........no bail period.

Make unions responsible for collecting their own dues.

I do not believe electing a new government under the existing way of doing business is a long term solution. Yes we would have much better people that possibly would not abuse the existing system. Fixing the system is a better approach.

Our country is slow moving train wreck, it is not a simple as an election. Making sure what has happened does not happen again. It will not survive if changes are not made.

Political parties would cease to exist. Government officials would no longer have the power to ruin any area because policies would be voted on by the constituents of the ridings. A government official job would solely become about being a representative of the people otherwise they would face being voted out quarterly. We could probably change the vote of confidence to yearly once the country is back on track but retain the ability to instantly revoke their power if they are proven to ignore the will of the people.

In the event someone commits a serious crime they would loose their right to vote for the remainder of their life. People on social assistance would have their right to vote suspended or restricted. However if everything functions as it should there would be little to no need for social assistance.

Obviously gun laws need a drastic overhaul. But committing an act of violence with one would have heavy penalties including no bail. Bail in general would be reserved for the specialist of situation. I could write a lot about how criminal punishments would drastically change to be more severe if you want to hear about it?

We must face the fact that our current system does not function and no election of a new PM will change anything unless they propose the things I’ve mentioned. A change to Poilievre or annexed to the U.S is going to put money back into our pockets but it will not fix the root of the problem which is politics.

It is the time for systems change. We are seeing the systems fail all over the world and of many different types. System change is required. The status quo of changing a figure that works in the same system is over and will fix nothing.

Yep. Then all the geniuses that voted them in will fall right in line with your plan.

Yep you bet....

Us voters are only working with the tools the politicians give us. Most people embrace better alternatives when it’s an option. Will everyone? No. So?.. That’s no reason to avoid trying.
