Astronomers are stressing about these things. Got your sensitive telescope trained on a dark patch of sky and these bright objects constantly going by.

It will be a game changer once all up and working though. Connectivity everywhere.

I've been following Starlink for awhile, it's pretty cool tech. But I think the initial pricing will be out to lunch, because who else can get you broadband internet in the middle of nowhere? Elon also expects the profits from Starlink to fund his manned missions to Mars.

I'm just sick of carrying multiple devices on the mountain. GPS/TEXT/RADIO/INREACH/CELL in one.

That would be awesome!
At least the Garmin Rino packages GPS with radio, and it shows on the screen where your partner is. That feature alone is worth its weight in gold to me.

I have the rino650.... radio is less than stellar, and the screens are terrible.... still in my glovebox though. until something new comes. we are closer, the new Garmin Montana 700 is really nice but still lacks radio. I would go Baofeng and the new Garmin if I was doing it today.

If you have service you can use "find my phone" or "find my friends" to see where the other person is if you've got it set up. Granted its not real accurate or quick to update right now but with better satellite tech it will get super accurate and lag time with Low Earth Orbit satellites will be 0s. And there's potentially other implications for it too, Imagine being able to see where an avalanche victim is before you ever pull out a beacon.

They are calling it the "better than nothing beta". 50-150 Mbps speed is pretty decent for people that do not have access to high speed internet. Also the latency seems pretty reasonable as well.
