I agree, but the point is most people use thier truck as a swiss army knife. Not the best tool for the job, but gets many different jobs done half ass.

Great to have a dually for towing your camper 4 times a year and use a Corolla for getting your toilet paper from the store.

Thing is most people don't have room to park a different whip for every occasion or can afford the payments and insurance and tires
for 5 different rides.

Now these ass clowns should probably just get a tent and a bus pass, but my guess would be they are trying to get a taste of the good life.

I have a f350 6.6 box,I haul a 8 ft camper,I put a 2x4 flat up front to stop it rubbing and with my tail gate down I have about 5 inches of gate sticking out past camper,my biggest issue is the roof on these truck bump up so I had about a quarter inch between camper and roof so I have a 2x4 with form ply to put between box and camper,my truck has a 6 inch lift and 38 inch tires handle good on road, alittle swayee off road but I just take it easy and never had a issue.truck doesn't sag at all.

Ya i know i see it every day, i find it kinda a joke actually.
People will go out buy a truck or what they call a truck, the thing will hardly carry their fat mother inlaw then try to put a sled deck or camper on it HAHAHA

Like SWAT said, "Right tools for the job."
So before buying the truck consider what your planning to do with it then buy it and buy it for the job it needs to do. Don't buy it then try to make it fit for the job after.

Maybe consider life style too. So many people waste money on a truck they don't need. How many people do you know that have a one ton diesel for getting groceries. If you have to have a truck because it's something you have to have but your life and toys don't fit in it maybe a small trailer is the better route to go.

You mean you don't have a whip for every possible driving condition, shame on you! Total agree though, yes I would love a daully and a corvette but.....

Well this post generated a lot of posts and thanks for all the feedback. This F350 is my son's work truck and the camper was a late ninety's model which he could have got a a great price. A perfect fit would be a 8'-6" with a toilet for my three grand daughter's. If you have a late ninety's or early 2000's model for sale and in good shape send a pm. I guess what I learnt that putting a 9'-6" camper on a short box camper is like balancing a bowling ball on a pencil lol.

..................There out there keep looking, we used to have one.......it was a Canadian, they don't make them anymore, lite weight and fit in a short box, on the side of every camper should be a sticker indicating the center of cavity, it should always be just slightly ahead of the rear axle....

i bought a 8ft camper and drive a truck with 5.5ft box ,So far as i can tell i can legally do it so long as i dont exced GVWR/GAWR/max height/4m past rear axlewith marker lights (dont quote me on this , think its a commercial law in Ontario or some where ). Havent found any law about center of gravity , but if there is, 2 quads on a sled deck is way over what i would be doing .

sooo i got out a tape measure , front of truck box to center of rear axle . 2ft 3 inchs, which means 5ft 9inchs would hang behind the rear axle (on a half ton) .... sounded crazy so i google it ..... its been done with heaver camper than i got. even had a write up of what modifications they had to the truck .

I can tell you first hand no matter what others say or do a camper on a 1/2 ton is not good. It may seem fine until you get an 80km side wind and see the back of the truck twisting while your being blown across the hwy
