Ok so as per my other thread in looking for a new camper. We have decided, my question now is, I have seen people with campers towing boats and other trailers (that's why we are going to a camper) and thought that some here must do it. Any hitch extension recommendations or things to stay clear of. Camper is going to be about 3000lbs dry and would like to tow my boat as well, out 3500lbs dry.

Have a 2011 f-350 diesel, thinking airbags are going to be purchased, for towing.

How long is the camper and how long is your truck box? Nice thing about boats is the low tongue weight so it makes it a lot easier to use a hitch extension. My folks with there 10.5' camper and Sea Ray used a 12" extension for clearance on longbox dodge.

I have this setup camper is 12' Artic Fox and weighs 4000lbs dry the boat is 19' Searay. I tow it to Osoyoos every year. The only reason we went with this is we enjoy the water. The extension is near 4'. This setup works well for us. If you have any questions let me know. Been running this way for almost ten years.

CATPRIDE, the camper im gunning for is 9.5, and I have a 8' box. My boat is 21' so would probably need a very similar set up as yours, very nice by the way. Air bags can tell are going to be a must, but I am a big fan of them to start with. Those extension bar is something that's new to me though. Like anything else probably get what you pay for, and good ones come to mind?

Thanks for the info folks.

I like the training wheels and because of the weight factor. But it sucks in the parking lots in the winter on the hills. My extension is custom made with half in square tubing and half inch flat bar on the bottom. If I get around to it I'll send you some pics.

Our 1 ton dually, haul's our 9' 10" camper's with a slide out, it weighs in at 3100 lbs(empty)....I was concerned with the leverage, so I found the longest shank (16") then extended the tongue on the trailer, modeled after the a horse trailer that came with a long tongue.

The boat I just sold a 21’ Monterey had a long enough tongue, now with the Malibu boat, I have another winter project to extend the tow bar …..
