I must be getting old and cranky, cause the worst sound to me when I'm sitting around a campfire is a generator. A really close second place is a subwoofer. I like background music, but not loud enough to drown the conversation.

I couldn't imagine....I'm the guy that gets pizzed over a humm of a generator

Me too, don't understand why people need to run them. Solar panels are a much quieter way to charge the batteries. Our one friend only turns his genset on in the morning to make coffee, or to run the blender for special drinks. It sits under his sled deck and we never hear it.

Me too I run 2-6V batteries everything runs off inverter and I neglect power like you would not believe with 2-6ers never have an issue. I have a Honda 2000w for 3 years and haven't run a full tank of gas through it yet. I may fire it up in the am to top up the batteries and for the toaster and the wifes hair dryer  and when i do I have 100' cord and a cable lock i drag it into the bush and lock to a tree with the exhaust pointing away from everyones camper we have the coleman percolator coffee pot so we don't need it for that

We have a little Sirius boombox that the radio pops onto....leave it under the awning and it just kinda makes background music all weekend. Once people's kids are in bed, we run it on batteries and leave it in a lawnchair close to the fire....just enough volume to hear it but not have to raise your voice to have a normal conversation. Oh...every once in a while an old Elvis or classic Johnny Cash tune comes on, we have to dial it up a bit and attempt to sing along....but for the most part, just a little background music works fine. We used to all have "The Systems" in our trucks and would do the windows down, crank it up thing when we were kids....but really, the boom, boom, boom just annoys everyone within 2 miles and you gotta turn it down when kids hit the hay anyways.....

So is it just me or is camping with beers and loud music the best way to spend a summers evening. Just checked on my toy hauler and then remembered the sound system I put in it. 2-15 inch rockford subs. 2-12 inch Rockford subs. 5 sets of seperates 6-1/2 mids with tweeters Those are all for outside enjoyment One 10inch sub and full surround sound Inside. Also another set of separates in the garage. 4000 watts of camping enjoyment. Of course I free camp. No provincial parks for this camper. Anyways Am i alone or have anyone else got carried away with sound in the trailers/campers or motor homes. Must admit. 4 more sled trips booked then I think I'm ready to bring on summer

Andrew

You suffer from small man syndrome that much? I hope I never camp near you.

For that much money you could easily get a decent system and also a big bore quad done up a lot! 5g can easily make enough noise for a camping unit. Unless your usin it for special events that is overkill. Even then, more speakers is what is necessary not mega base. Just my opinion. I like having a lot of somewhat decent things than one over the top thing

Wow. My first Internet threat. Pussy!!! The post is about the stereo. Not people who camp next to me. For the record. Again All the trailers around me are with me. no neighbors. And $$$ is no object for me. You can't put a budget on fun

I appreciate good quality sound. when Im campin, relaxing quiet is nice with a decent conversation with friends and family, and a little background music is nice. I have 3 kids 7 and under, so when bed time comes around, its quiet time, because if someone wakes one of my kids, i will not be a happy camper. There is times that you get a few rums in you, a good song comes on, and you want to crank it up. nothing wrong with that, especially if its not disturbing other campers in the campsite. like he said, he isnt camping in provincial parks loaded with ppl. so to each his own I say, no sense harpen on the poor guy when he's never done anything to any of us. places like the sand dunes where there is some crazy partys all the time, this trailer might be perfect.

We were out at Medicine Lake one weekend with 6 or 7 trailers in our group...all with kids under 8. A few young guys rolled in beside us and pounded the tunes all night. Several complaints and threats later, they finally shut er done around 4ish. I fired up my Freightliner at 8, pulled it up to buddy's bedroom slide, and gave them a 3 minute air horn serenade. They packed up and fawked off.

Thanks man. And your right. The harpin on me was like WTF. I did nothing to anyone. And then small man syndrome. Come on. For the record 6'3 240lbs is not a little man. This is one toy that woulda been great when I was 20 yrs younger. I dont have kids but if someone sets up by me with kids I respect that.

I think the biggest reason for peeps coming down on you is because unfortunately your preference, taste in equipment and music affects everyone around you for half a mile or more, even if your in the bush in the form of noise pollution. And i think most peeps have been affected by this in the past .If it's contained in your camp then fine but really it isn't. I don't care where you set up on a long weekend...there's going to be someone pissed off at your bass. Personally I'm ok with it until dark then watch the fawk out...I eat 240 pounders and ch!t used stereo equipment
