Camera Drones

Just wondering if any one out there has tried this concept.
I know the Gopro is the in thing but IMO kinda boring to watch as you only realy see the rider's view and after seeing a couple they are really all the same BORING.
The old hands on camcorder makes for better interesting video's.

I'm looking into this unit, available through the Source.

and believe this could really change our ability to bring a whole new angle to action vids. With a good operator and your own personal heli and birds eye view of the action. Maybe combined with a Gopro for a riders perspective.

I have the DJI Vision 2 plus. It comes with a pretty good camera already.

I'm looking at the new dji inspire 1. Expensive but comes fully equipped. I want to use it for the farm and for personal. Price tag is over twice as much as the phantom 2 vision + though and the batteries are $200 apiece

A friend of mine just got this one DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ V3.0 Quadcopter with Gimbal-Stabilized 14MP, 1080p Camera + Extra Battery and a 32GB microSDHC Memory Card plus Reader:Amazon:Camera & Photo
I think it would be cool to take some awesome footage for the guys that like to climb. Chase and guy up chutes or hover above to get some rad different angle footage. Not sure how long the battery would last at negative temps though.

Phantom vision 2 sucks in the alpine. Works great down low but air is too thin for it up top. Deffinetly won't be chasing any sleds up hills. We killed 2 full batteries and got about 1 min of decent footage with it. Might work better in sheltered trees or something but the turbulent air coming over the ridges is too much for it to compensate for. Also the gimble sucks. Need to swap out for a full 3d gimble so then might as well go with the regular and a go pro

I just picked up my Phantom 3 standard and with the really cod temps, I haven't had a chance to fly yet.
I'm wondering if it's the battery that doesn't like the cold in which case I wonder why someone has tried a tiny foil blanket with a hand warmer packet or if it's the motors that suffer.
I was riding Fernie last weekend. Up top it was -2 and almost zero wind. Now I'm thinking about how to bring the Phantom.

Mine won't even fire up if the unit itself is too cold. I haven't tried to start out with it warm and see what the cold temps will do. I'm thinking it use the home feature and come back and land or it might just shutdown which means a crash and $$$$$ I'm also still on beginner mode. I'm too much of a chicken to try the other modes.
