so thought we would go for a ride today went to load and can't get the outlander to run had it going two days ago all it dose when u hit the start button it crank no go expect every once in a while a brief second then gone again thought maybe battery but not the right sound for a dead battery and would jump either noticed the choke cable was not going back all the day thought maybe could that flood the bike? or could the starter be on the way out that could be pricey to fix i get any help would be great thanks

Would help if ya posted the year and model. Guessing old since most are fuel injected now

2004 outlander 400

Outlander 400, pre fuel injected, fouled plug. They don't like idling those old 400's.

checked plug its good has spark quad is getting fuel. can't start it for it to idle. put the battery from other quad in it and same thing no gaudiest cranks but won't fire

You need spark, fuel and compression to start.

could it just loose compression like that was started 3 days ago moved 19 feet parked and went to start yesterday and nothing?

was easy to pull over by hand and made no signs of life at all think its done?

Doubt it but possible. How old is the fuel and how strong is the spark?

fuel is about a month old last time i pushed some snow with it spark looked bright. maybe have to take it in and see what they say they can give it a quick once over

We have had a few 400's over the years, try changing the plug. When we used them on the farm and they idled lots they wouldn't start or when they did wouldn't idle, new plug then it runs again until it happens again, common problem with these 400's. We switched to the 500's fuel injected and no more issues. When you get it going put some sea foam in the gas tank, it will clean everything and act as a stabilizer for the fuel, don't use ethanol heavy gas either, especially if it's going to sit for long periods, good luck.
