Im upgrading my boat and was dead set in the 220HP version but found a nice one with the 190. To the guys that have one or have been around them how do they pull? We do lots of tubing(big 4 seater tube some times 2 tubes). And slalom skiing so pulling guys outta the water on one ski. Just looking for opinions. Is it worth waiting for a 220? Thanx

I got a 5 litre inboard merc and it’s got more pulling power than I need and I pull a big tube with 3 people on it . Prop selection is huge , stock aluminum props are cheap for a reason. With a decent prop targeting what your doing is key. I think 190 is enough.

My boat is pretty big as well as a deep hull.

We had a Campion 18' open bow with the 4.3 190hp, we used it with a 2-3 seater tube with no issues had a aul power prop on it not bad on fuel. From what i remember the difference between the 2 was 190 was carb and 220 was efi.

I had a glastron 18 foot with the 4.3 and alpha leg and I was fine never felt underpowered. You can do a lot with a prop too , pretty much the same as putting a set of gears in your car . I don’t know if you’d want to pull 2 tubes with it all the same.

18' Campion with 190hp 4.3 volvo leg cheapo 3 blade 20pitch prop. It is great for just the family and we pull a 2 person tube totally fine with it. Need to have some people in the bowrider to get on plane with 2 families on the boat though. Don't think it would be much fun to be pulled out on a slalom ski unless boat is nearly empty and a smaller sized skier.

If you want an extra 10% holeshot over aluminum propsɓɓ I have two high five props in as new condition with center breakaway cones included.
Rated for 150hp+ boats with Alpha one leg.
19 and 21 pitch.
$900 each new
$450 ea OBO

And a 190hp is enough for tubing and skiing.

You will rev about 2-300rpm higher with the 19 pitch than the 21 at same given speed. May over rev a bit at WOT so just have to wathch throttle position but better for towing.
SS props alway better out of the hole than aluminum.
Again better for towing.
