Something has to be done about this. Our government is so screwed up they want her to give her children up for adoption. They will step in and take them away pay for someone to look after them. But they will not help with funding for her so she can get a nanny and let her kids stay where they are loved and belong.
. A lot of us have children and can relate to this. Would you want a lose you kids if you got hurt or sick.

This is soooooooooooooo sad !!!!!!!!!!!! And down right ridicilous !!!!! They are willing to pay big bucks for the kids to be in foster care until adopted............but not the few it would cost for a nanny !!!! I have a post on here about the government trying to ban smoking in vehicles when children are present. This shows the point I'm trying to get across.................the government is trying to turn us into a dictatorship.......trying to tell us how to parent our own children............what they think is best for our own children!!! Just seeing this..............if I lived by this woman, I'd be willing to take turns with others, to cook, clean and get the girls homework done and them ready for bed in a heart beat !!!!

I would like to know the REAL story not the media spinning it how they want. I do not believe for a second they aren't skewing the facts.

right or wrong what is your idea of a few dollars? What does a nanny cost $1500 a month? How old are these kids lets say a nanny for 10 years. That's 180,000 to help ONE person, how many other might have something similar. I know a lot of people in this situation think money should be no object in health or things like this, but it can't be the case sometimes you must look at the dollars and just can't do it. Plus can she afford to feed, house, and cloth them? Foster care costs would be short term and guaranteed cheaper in the long run. Keeping them would likely cost millions. If the facts are half right it is a crappy situation for sure.

Having been involved in the foster care system, giving her $1500/ month would be way cheaper for the taxpayers. Foster care costs are very expensive and if they are adopted, the adopted parents still get paid a minimum of $900/ month/ kid. Typically it's more around $1200/ month/ child

You are a real piece of work............truly !!! Cost of a nanny is a hell of alot cheaper then what foster home parents are paid.....I know foster home parents who take in a child just for what they are paid by the government.........obviously she is feeding them, clothing them and housing them..............loving them......................just needs some help in caring for them. Get off your friggin high horse dude................and wake up to the government wanting to make parenting choices for us !!!!!!!!!!!!!

is it a nanny that this woman needs......sounds like she may need a 24hr nurse to look after her, and a nanny for te kids (and not a $1500.00 dollar one...live in...5K?)

I'm not trying to be a dick, but why should any of this be paid for by the gov't? has she no savings? family? where is the father?

alot of factors

just sayin'

Exactly. If she can't work and needs help HERSELF how is she going to pay to live and for the kids? AISH? Just another way of taxpayers. Plus what kind of life can she provide for these kids living on that? The story said she only needs money for a live in nanny. It fails to mention the rest of the story. A nanny to look after them all, plus paying for them to live 5-6k a month easily.......That works out to MILLIONS in the long run.

Have any of you people on your high horse stopped to think it might be for the kids benefit? How is this mother who can't look after herself going to ever help her kids with homework, sports, ANYTHING that a parent needs to do. Do you really think a nanny raising kids is better then actual parents? And is a nanny going to want to be these kids parents and do EVERYTHING a parent does? In my opinion (none of us know the FULL story though) a good foster parents would be so much better and give the kids a much better quality of life.

As said, why should taxpayers fork out the bill for this? Maybe a one time cost, but for life? Nope.

my wife is a stay at home nurse ( we have a small boy and i work on call all the time) she said the whole family could come live with us and meant it! I know thats not going to happen... but my point is a mother looked at this and her instinct kicked in... we'd be willing to put our money where our mouth is... if someone on here is banker start some kind of a fund!

Just to share a thought... we brought our son to play group... play group bragged about not being able to spend enough money before April 1... I know lots of people in government and "march madness is what they call it"... how come we can't put a stop to that...

I agree with CYLE in many ways... we can no longer continue to have a Government that funds everything for everyone... however, as a parent I honestly believe with some help this mom can do it... there is no safety concern ( ie abusive family) she didn't get ms from alcohol or drug abuse which is sad but self inflicted... you will never replace the love a mother has for her children... i think some funding to help this lady would go a long way to saving money in the future...

How many foster kids do we see in trouble because they lacked the love and support of their natural parents... damb it we fund sex changes... like WTF!!!!!

I took one look at the video and thought... OMG we need to help that women and her children...

Where's the dad?A lot of unfit mothers out there leaving the kids with the dads! Why might the kids be put up for adoption when there should be dad around somewhere!Must be more to the story! The media has a way of spinning any story to make it more sensational like how they make it sound like all sledders are reckless and cause avalanches!!It's still a sad story and I feel sorry for the kids either way.

For those of you saying why should the taxpayers pay. Why shouldnt we. She is not an unfit mom she has a disease. The government supports crackheads and all the lazy bums on welfare. I'm not rich but if a fund gets started i will donate what i can. Let me say this if you broke your neck and were paralyzed would you want your kids taken away from you. Would it make you unfit to care for your your children ?

Breaking my neck would make me unfit to look after my children as a matter of fact. What happens when the 4 yr old spikes a fever at 3 in the morning? By the time I get a pencil in my mouth, and drive my wheel chair to where it needs to be, the kid could be dead.

Like I said, I'm not trying to be a dick, but adoption is a very viable option here. (knowing the real story or not). How will these kids be brought up? You hear it everyday that a 6 yr old was the "mother" of the houshold for what ever reason, and that is why the family is completly fooked. It's way to much responsibility for a kid.

I am also, absolutly positive, that even after adoption, there would be visitation. How could there not be?

I do feel terrible for the situation, but it is being handled properly in my opinion.

By the way.....all you need is an e-mail address to set up a paypal acct. for setting up a fund for this woman. You don't need to be a "banker"...it's not rocket science

I agree with supporting her since it is a natural disease. It drives me nuts that money gets spent on people with drug or alcohol problems! That sh.. was self inflicted! My wife has a nephew that is on aish because he is schizo because of drug abuse and can't hold a job!He just got his third impaired and only got one year suspension and in 3 months can get the machine in his truck because of his mental issues!!BULLSH..!!!!By the way he's only 30ish!!But the government is treating this poor woman like this!!People CHOOSE to do drugs this woman never chose to get this disease!!The dad should dish out to support these kids and the woman should be entitled to more government money than these a-holes drug addicts getting government money because of the choice they made in life!!Should see the fights I get started at family dinners when I say there should be a piss test before you get an aish check or it shouldn't be allowed to be spent on cigarettes or booze!!!

Who said she wasn't a crack ho, or hooked on heroin for 15 yrs before her husband left? Maybe these kids are from different men, and addiction was a very big contributing factor to her present condition........we don't know this, and in 2 days won't care.

sad but true

So, Cyle.....it is wrong to spend 180,000 ($1500/mo x10 years)on helping to keep the kids with a natural parent (their mom) but it would be ok to spend 144,000 ($1200/mo x 10 years) to send the kids away to a foster home???

You don't have any children do you?

You need to call your MLA, not your MP, health care and welfare are provincial issues, not federal............

Do you work for the media? You got a good way of spinning facts to suit you. The money towards foster parents would cover EVERYTHING the kids need, plain and simple. In their current position, add on the cost of living to it, then you got a fair comparison. Plus $1500 is an extremely low figure, I bet it would be a lot more.
