Calgary/Airdrie area, Anyone interested in practicing with beacons?

Thanks to all that made it today. It was great meeting you all and thanks to Rowdy for the BBQ lunch afterwards. The home made burgers were HUGE!!!!
We had a blast! We had different scenarios, multiple burials. Heck we even had a beacon up in a tree (that was a HOOT watching them try and find that one). We had beacons that were left on transmitting that weren't supposed to be to throw a wrench in the searchers and also we turned a beacon off (rider forgot to turn his beacon on) but we left a clue to find them.

I feel WAY more confident than I was, I hope everyone that came out feels the same.

We need to do this again!!

As well as meeting everyone else.
I got a lot from doing this, I have never used my beacon before. I have read the manual a few times, but nothing like the hands on exprience of doing so. It was interesting to see how we went from finding 3 hidden beacons in 7+ mins, to breaking off into 2 groups of 5 and finding 5 beacons in 5 mins or less. I highly recommend doing something like this to any and everyone.

Also... I agree that we should do this again too

It was fun! Good amount of showing and interest in the practice. I'd be up for doing it whenever just to keep the skills and improve on them. Not to mention learn our devices and know their downfalls, etc.

Going out split boarding tomorrow so this was perfect timing!

A few of us are going out to golden next weekend for Sat and 3/4 a day Sunday.

Meet up with carbon ( riding buddy of urs ) yesterday. We went for a test and tune to make sure we are good for next weekend.

Sounds like carbon was going to come out again on Sunday.
