That is a great spot but aways away from the good rides. You can access Pembina River road from near the bridge and drive all the way to the beginning of the Ruby Falls trail. Its a good 45minute car drive, then you unload and head to Ruby Falls. Or you can drive past Cadomin over the Cardinal divide and down the switch back and at the bottom then take the 1st right/side road and unload at the staging area (kiosk there) and ride to Crystal Falls and then past that to Box Canyon Falls.

From Robb it should only be about 20-30 minutes, depends how fast you drive. The terrain is hilly, crossing the Mcleod at this time of year takes some nerves but can be done, we did last May and had no problems, put it in 4X4 and hang on, LOL. Our friend did it on a Honda 400 and our son on his 350 kodiak.
Some of the hills can be a challenge, long but not really steep, not the ones we have been on, but last year there was still snow on the trails higher up and we were unable to go on some of them.

How hilly is the mercoal area is it like the bighorn area or bigger hills or flatter?

The hills in the Mercoal area are steeper and longer than the Bighorn Dam area, but not really any harder. If you ride along the Mcleod river, in the valley it is nice and flat, trail is chewed up though, there are some fire roads, and reall technical areas to.

We usually wait until June/July as there has always been snow in June when we have gone to the Box Canyon falls. If your staying lower you should be fine though./

Cant wait to get out there this year !
