C3 belt drive?

I was woundering if any one has tried the C3 belt drive system on a XP, does it work good or bad, and if its worth the money?

powderslut on here has one. says he keeps blowing belts. which is strange because they have it on a few turbo sleds.

there isnt any performance gain. just the simplicity of being able to change the belt on the hill and not having a chain break and destroy everything

ya talk to pslut hes torn through a few after only a couple kms up the trail, missed some good days cause of it

I wouldnt touch one with a 10 foot pole. You cant get much more efficient than a chain case.

chaincase is a great thing I will agree with you this time freak but it definately causes more of a mess when that chain lets go. I hope c3 gets it figured out I wanted to buy one

I gotta side with LHF on this one too. change the chain every other season, keep it properly tensioned and lubricated.....you should never have a problem.

Chains are a cheap maintenance. Any turbo application should change every year, plus gives you a good chance to inspect and change bearings if need be.

Your right there Max, we had a Brand new Cat that the dealer had set up. Belt was laying in the secondary about 1.5". Anything can happen, I guess...

I was worried that it would be just another belt to blow!I thought it my have some performance gains with reduced rotaiting mass. I never had a problem with a properly maintanded chain, so I think i will stick with it. Thanx for the input guys! Jeremy you going to call me when you head up to Smithers this year? If you dont i will come sabatoge your rig lol! Is your rig getting that new mud tank that I am building in ROYs shop?

Right now I'm kind of wondering why they switched to that system and still have it after several years if it's so awful. And I truly haven't heard of any failures other than minor bearings. Or throwing a ridiculous amount of power at it.

I don't think that it's that awful, if you inspect the oil frequently and keep them maintained it would probably not fail on you. just like chain and gears....when they are neglected it can get expensive. just seems like the DD system cannot be neglected as long as a chain and gear setup can before a failure occurs.

i agree te diamond drive is a disaster. seen to many new cats locked up tight.

last year a brand new cat was being helied out cuz his DD locked up. didnt even try to fix it on the hill. with a chaincase simply pop the cover and replace the chain. thats usually all that can go wrong. even if the chaincase is destroyed and wont hold fluid it will get you off the hill. not to mention gear ratio changes are not as readily available in as many combinations..aalso at a higher price and a pita to do. as a die hard doo fan i considered buying a cat last season so i could have a turbo sled. this was the deciding factor in my new doo purchase

Heard of many, many more blown chaincases. And can't say many people are capable of fixing those on the hill on the spot. Just sayin'.
