Registering isn't an issue for me, but I think the Authorization to transport permits are a joke. Not being allowed to shoot a restricted on your own property (unless you own an approved range) is a joke. So many guns prohibited based on caliber (.25, .32) or barrel length. Pinned magazines. All these stupid laws under the guise of public safety?

Anyone interested in committing a violent crime is not going to be following these rules anyway, so what does it help?

Registering isn't an issue for you until they change the classification based on a bureacrats idea and they make you turn it in for destruction with no compensation?

"So many guns prohibited based on caliber (.25, .32) or barrel length." I have a 1904 Colt Single Action Army and I was told it had to be surrendered for destruction. It took a bit of finagling but its now grandfathered to me. The reason to destroy a piece of history was because its a 32 cal. I can see what would have happened I hand it in and it goes into a Sargents collection.

What sort of finagling? I know of a 32 family heirloom I would like to own legally...

I totally agree, they are doing that right now with a .22 because it looks scary. Ridiculous.

I look at the registering of non restricteds sort of like a car. It is just a piece of paper to say its yours. Unfortunately, as you pointed out it can be (and has been) used against us.

My grandpa had the same problem. Some government guy told him the gun had to be surrendered, and destroyed. He told them he'll put the thing in a cement block before they get their hands on it. Long story short it's sitting in his basement with a the barrel plugged.
