Buying Propane?

For me i buy at coop is spruceview. I'll end up spending the savings in gas to go to cosco. But they do only charge for what you get.

We get propane delivered and filled on site by Western One, who bought Davis Heater/ Surefire propane.

33lb forklift propane bottle are $32.95 to fill.
20lb propane bottles are $26.75 to fill.

+ the new carbon tax @ .0308 cents per lb

+ GST on top

I was at the old propane shack off of 17street today. I payed 72.00 to get a 100lb filled. There was a sign there. On Wednesday its 9.50 to fill a 20lb.

Yes this Ticks me off that people do not know how to do math, and fill a propane cylinder by weight. Its very simple to figure out how much is in the cylinder.
You can tell a person that is actually trained is when they use the scale and do not, fill it till the OPD valve closes.
I personally think is a rip off that your paying for a product still left in the tank.

The Guy at the Co Op in Innisfail told us they can only charge you legally what they've put into it. These places that charge by bottle size are a rip off.

That's certainly the way it was when I was a propane trainer back ten years ago. Illegal to charge for more than you put in the tank. Have no idea how they're getting away with it.

Edit: Well apparently, the fox is now in charge of the hen-house. Vendors can now "choose" to charge either a flat rate, or by the litre. All they can actually be reported for now is not delivering a full cylinder....if you can prove it. Click on "flat rate" in the weights and measures link below.

It’s just like service fees for using your debit card. Illegal for vendors to charge the user but some do.

That’s interesting, why was that taught that way? We were taught to never rely on the OPD to function correctly and fill by the correct weights.

I never ever taught anyone to fill by the OPD. Always by weight. Not sure what these outfits are doing now though. Filling by OPD is still a no-no as far as I know. Those things are not that reliable.

Chances are they're not trained. It's been an ongoing problem for years.

Fill the 1000Gal bullet at the farm, fill the rest of the tanks from that. Works, good, price is even better!!!
