Hey I'm gonna be buying my first quad this week. I'm pretty set on getting a new 2012 Can Am 800 and just wanted some opinions on it from some of you that have them. Thanks!

After owning a Polaris 500 and a Polaris 800's I bought a 2011 Outlander 800 and love it. What a difference in weight and with power steering it's so much nicer to ride. My first quad was the 500 and buying that was a mistake, I got used to it pretty quick and wanted an 800. Trying to sell a used quad you are going to lose money for sure.

I've owned a polaris 850, and now a outlander800, my advice to you is to buy a polaris 550, or a 850, reason is the sportsman XP package has much nice ergonomics, and is a easier quad to drive/ride. Don't get me wrong, the outlander is nice, and is very good for the expereinced rider, but with that power to weight ratio, that beast can get away from you in a heck of a hurry. I miss my 850, and will be buying another one when I'm done with this 800.

I just went from a can am renegade 800 to the Polaris xp 850 and couldn't be more happy so far, the renegade had more snap than the xp but the power is so smooth on the xp, its just as quick even though it doesn't seem like it. As far as the weight goes, the 800 outi is 729 to the xp at 774, so it's not that big a difference. The fact that you can get the xp for more tha $3000 less than the outlander, sealed the deal for me.

and the orignal poster is actually going for a outlander 800, which has 71hp, and when you figure out the power to weight, I beleive that goes to polaris for MY2012.
