So we are looking into buying either an older or building a new acreage

When buying old what are the pitfalls to look for???
- type of lot & Size
- drainage
- year the buildings were built?
-

Building a new Acreage
- Lot size
- Bylaws that let you build a shop??
- Well or Truck in water???

Who are some decent home/shop builder west of Edmonton to Stony Plain to build an acreage???

What did you find building your acreage????

If you're looking for a builder in the Stony Area. TKO Sled Ed here on the site owns Fox Maple Homes. I would personally suggest giving him a call.

Check out his website for some of their work.
Fox Maple Homes - Custom Home Builder in Stony Plain, Alberta

He also has this handy check list on his site:

Otherwise I look forward to reading this thread for my own future knowledge.

If buying new, make sure the well is good and the septic field. Our acreage is 21 years old and the well and field have never failed us. But I am starting to think that one day the well will crater. Other than that just the regular used house things to watch out for. By the way I would never move back to town, I love living out in the country, and we live in a very quiet subdivision, it is on a dead end road, no traffic.
