Hey, I've been shopping around for a somewhat smaller toyhauler. Having a real hard time finding one that fits our needs. Have it narrowed down to a 2005 fleetwood gearbox 33ft closed garage and a 33 ft tahoe open garage. Anyone have anything good or bad to say about either of these brands/ models. Hauling dirt bike and street bikes so the closed garage is not super important. Thanks for your help....big decision. Also anyone with any input as to max trailer size for Chev 2500 HD duramax...I know you can pull alot more than a 33 footer but I like to cruise thru the mountains with ease.

I got a keystone raptor.... bumper pull..... triple ax... it pulls well a bit heavy even for a diesel.....especially with 4 quads... if your ever planning to camp without all the hookups then the 5500 onan is the best thing.....( what are ya paying for this thing... and what options does it have).

I have had a Thor toyhauler 5th wheel for the past 3 years and it has been great. It doesn't have the garage with I think is a waste of space when you are parked.. I have to put some extra weatherstrip on the rear door because it didn't seal as good as I wanted. I have hauled 4 sport quads in it on a 3000km round trip and am able to fit my rhino and outlander in it at the same time.

your gm may pull the trailer, but i think you will be way overloaded in the mtns. you need to check you axle and gvw for what your truck is weighted for. sales guys have no idea and will tell you BS to make the sale. go to weight scales and find out, don't listen to any one telling you otherwise, as it is your life and those that are traveling with you.
these trailers are HEAVY and need a 1 ton at the least, not a 3/4.

this same post pos up every summer and fall, can't believe it. guys seem to have no common sense, or at least a death wish.

can't say that i like aluminum siding, will look like crap real fast. unit is heavy, will require 1 ton at least for tongue hitch weight.

I am not a big fan of aluminum either but the hardwalls look like crap too if you leave them outside for couple years.High end trailers now are painting the sides no decals etc.But for $23000 I bet you could buy 2 for the price of similar trailer out here.

Arrf is selling a nice bumper pull unit........ I have a bumper pull and personally would not buy the 5th wheel just because you lose the use of the box.........just my two cents..... but bumper pulls are a better deal....

Two key things to consider when buying trailers of any kind is to talk to the service and parts department....salesman last :d These people know these units in and out for problem areas. Might save you from some disappointment and frustration down the road. Also do your homework when buying from a dealer. Some tend to get your $$$$ and forget about you. It's allways good to buy Canadian if you can...keep that in mind to. This is just my humble opinion in helping you out on things maybe not thought about. Good luck in your search

As imdoo'n says: GVW is king, 33 ft and below 1 ton single axle ( Dual preferably, 40 ft plus 1 1/2 ton Dual . I see a fella packing a Gear Box 40 ft with a 3/4 ton. I asked him if it was legal, he said it has air bags. No arguement .... Sledmamma drives our 40 ft Jayco Loaded w/ Machines and water through the mountains with my F450 without any trouble at all.

Check GVW and buy trailer to suit if you like traveling in BC or mountains, it is just the safe thing to do.

yep, I agree. There's nothing worse than buying a trailer, then realizing there is no way in hell your pickup can handle it, so you have to go out and buy a new truck. Been there, done it, didn't care for the comments from my wife about it.

A lot depends if it's a toyhauler, amount of slide outs etc, not just length. Heck, there are many under 25 ft that can weight 12000lbs loaded. Then theres 40 ft that only weight 12000lbs to.

But definatly got to check out before you buy if your truck can handle it.

Looking for one myself to, but I think my 1 ton can haul a tiny 25 ft bumper pull no problem :p No reason for nothing big and need something my bro can pull with his half ton to.
