Bought a new harley from Calgary HD got swindled out of 1500 because I didn't catch it in time before I signed the paperwork. Long story short I ended up with a 500 in store credit. First oil change is due 650 bucks wow did it myself bought all the HD fancy stuff (filter wrench, drip trays ) full synthetic oil probably cost me 170 ish. Next time will be a little over a hundred bucks. Switching gears take both my sxs into Alberta beach for some warranty work and stuff. Just north of 40 g s of business I gave em between the 2 and I get a msg from them for 125 dollars worth of pressure washing so the mechanic can work on em wtf?!? I just washed them knowing they were going to be wrenched on but not showroom clean. If I got into pick ups, rv s and other stuff I ve dealt with I would have a novel here.

Alberta dealerships are the worst - the negative experiences always outweigh the positive experiences - I try to avoid them all like the covid - do all my own work and I try to get anyone in my area to bring their toys to me to avoid negative experiences and getting completely financially raped at a dealership

Its TOY's, you pay to play and its not a necessity.
If you can afford to buy multiple toys that many cannot and bitch that dealers are ripping you off then maybe have less or just one that you can afford the maintenance cost.

So the more toys you have then that means the absolute anal reaming that you get should be proportional - makes sense - if someone works hard for their money and loves toys and buys a bunch of them then that means they should be taken advantage of at a ripoff rapeshow dealership and shouldn't complain about it because they are over privileged - that type of logic belongs in parliament

Buddy bought a fifth wheel two weeks ago from a red deer store, salesman said life insurance $8/month, wasn’t watching real close, financed unit got first statement life insurance listed as a line item in finance docs, $6000 upfront. Not sure if all this stuff falls in buyer beware but I suspect with sales being down 75% buyers will have to be careful.

i don't think any dealer should rip you off for how many toys you have, dosent matter if you have 1 toy or numerous toys. if they are going to charge you for washing before working on should call before doing so ,its your money they spent without phoning first and getting authorization. as for dealership in alberta beach i would never walk thru their door and purchase anything ,i know 2 different people who dealt there and 2 very bad experiences, and i was there for the 1 deal and he got screwed over,so it's not 2nd hand info, and manager would not even talk to a person, i even phoned manager and talked with him who said would look into and call back which never happened. for both those guys alberta beach dealt like they did not want repeat customers
sorry about your experiences hoehand

How did Harley swindle you out of $1,500?
Well was dealing on it mid February. Finally hashed out a deal, the day I was going to wire the money to pay cash for it I found out work was going sideways with the pandemic so I kyboshed that. They talked me into financing it so I figured it would buy me some time. They e mail bill of sale to me ,with the 2 grand down payment the 2 grand parts and motor clothes credit ,plus I went over that by 650 bucks ( because you would be stupid not to use up the entire 2 grand) raced to staples after work because I was in GP working printed an signed bill of sale without doing the math first. Got laid off for break up and actually did the math and found 1500 difference. So I talked to sales manager he said it was because I had to spend so much to qualify for the "pam" credit. So after phoning other dealerships that were still open quizzed them about this "pam" credit and to "qualify " all I had to do is buy a new 2019 bike. So went back to them and said I'm out 1500 and the "pam" credit is 2 grand so that didn't jive anyway s even the vp of Calgary hd phoned me and agreed. He phoned me back and said I'm not going back and forth with this but I will give you an in store credit of 500 basically admitting guilt. I told him numbers don't lie and math hasn't changed so when I finally picked up my bike I asked if they wanted to siphon the fuel out of it before I take it and that's the last time they see me my bike or my money.

It's not that I can't afford it, but 125 to wash fairly clean units is ridiculous. You don't think I know you pay to play? 3 day trip to valemount sledding is easily a grand for me every time. Just because I have multiple toys doesn't mean to give money away hand over fist. I'm just saying they probably would of spent 5 minutes washing machines I bought off them seems like a nothing burger for the business I give them. But if you wanna piss your money away on injust services by all means...

Ya getting agreement s in writing is a must...I was texting the sales lady on my bike and everytime I tried to get confirmation on the deal she would either change the subject or said she would get back to me or wanted to phone me. Obviously I never caught on to her tactics live n learn. That's why the saying goes "you can't trust lawyers, realtors or car salesmen " lol

Dumbest statement I've ever heard out of someone I used to kinda respect on here. Buying toys from a dealer does not give them the right to rip you off!

There’s the typical Canadian socialist attitude right there....you are successful and have something better than most therefore you deserve to be treated poorly because you have a measure of success ....same argument as taxing the 1% out of existence.

Sucks you picked it up. If you don't take delivery the deal isn't finalized even if all paperwork is signed, that is why dealers always want you to take delivery so quick. All they can try to come after you for is if they have to sell it for less then what you were going to pay, not even worth their time to try.

Great, I have this old sled i'm going to sell you, $20,000 it's a little rough and all but it's a great deal, you gotta pay to play right so it doesn't matter if it's a rip off.

I tried that ...even phoned harley complaint line in the states and amvic doesn't deal with motorcycle s for some strange reason. My only angle was to go thru the BBC. With the weather getting nicer I just gave up on my fight with them...
