Just wondering if anybody has seen any plans for building an aluminun sled trailer? I have 90% of the materials but no plans to make sure it's built legally. Any help would be great. Oh ya, I'm to cheap to buy one(haha)

When I built my enclosed trailer (not aluminum), I went to the trailer place and got on the ground and crawled underneath on of their trailers and came home and started building. Also made some mods to suite me. You can check out some Alberta websites and they will tell you axle size, brake size, and light and marker placement. There is a few pics of it in the thread registering a home built trailer . Sorry don't know how to make it a link.:d

Dirtball08,

Princess auto has some plans in steel which you could convert to aluminium. Check out some brouchures from some aluminium models out there and do a few measurements and with alittle imagination away you go, good luck and post some constuction pics. Lastly go on line and check some sites which post rough outlines of their products. good luck.:PDT_lam:

make the walls out of 1x1 square tube that way if you want to insulate you will get a r7 value for 3/4 inch of spay insulation, also break the corners of your pannels to fit te inside of the tube and have the other pannel wrap it, you can make screw/rivitless walls. calk the piss out of it. best thing is to look at trailers(cheap ones) that do not have the interior walls done, do not use channel on the inside, it will make your life hell for insulating and also for attatching pannels correctly.

I checked out princess auto today and they no longer sell the plans, so I'll have to check out bookstores to see if they have something similar. Thanks

I was thinking of using 1x1 square tubing for everything floor, sides and roof, and going 16" centers instead of 24". Just to provide more strength. Still a toss up on the insulation, whether spray or blue sheets, depending on cost I guess. Thanks
