My brute force is destroying belts. It is eating the cogs off tue outside of the belts. I have gone through 3 belts in the last 70km. I brought it to the bike shop to make sure the clutches are alligned and shinned properly. The last 2 belts were aftermarket ( unsure of make) that I bought from local Suzuki yamaha dealer. They blew apart in no time. I finally made it to the kawi dealer and picked up a couple OEM belts. Before I put one on and see if I can blow it apart does anyone have any suggestions? I NEED it running good by may long!!! Does anyone run a Teryx belt on their brute? I have heard the fit and they are tougher!

Ps when I changed the belt I cleaned out clutches and cvt cover of all debris before installation.

Sharpe edge on the inside of one of the clutches where the belt rides?

i think its your belts, not your clutch... i know with can-am, the only belt that lasts is the OEM.. anything aftermarket is no good. its been proven over and over. belief me.

know i am not sure if this appies to you but i am willing to think it does.. if your clutch sheaves are nice and smooth, what you want to do is first get air and blow out your cluthes. if you have the tools, you should take them apart every 100 hrs and clean them all and put back in.

if you dont want to do this and think your clutches are in pretty good shape then just blow them out so they are fairly clean and then take a schotch pad, the ruff one and hold it against each sheave while idling. just be carful you dont get your hand caught in there... if your carfull it works like a dream. go back and forth on your clutch faces and give them some mild roughness.. this wont stay and next time they will be shinny again. repeat at that time... dont be afaid if there are cross hatched marks showing in the sheaves. this is good.

now your secondary wont spin, so you have to spin it be hand and do the sheaves as good as you can on it too.

if you had the sheaves apart off the bike, then you can put into vise and do by hand as you spin it in the vise. this will give them a proper surface too.

this has nothing to do with your belt shreading, thats cause its aftermarket imho. but whil you have the cover off, you mite as well do some slight mantanianace. put on your OEM belt and i think your problems will be solved.... now if not then we are back to the drawing board but give it a try... i can't see kawi being so different than can-am in the belt deparment.

The aftermarket belts are junk for the Kawies. You HAVE to run an OEM belt. Check the clutches for burrs or anything out of the ordinary. Make sure there's not marks in the sheave faces even down to the bottom of the secondary but if you put an OEM belt on it you will be WAY happier!

It's possible that your secoundary isnt opeaning all the way, due to dirt etc which causes you to run like your in secound gear. or your helex is wore out or going past the buttons. this will cause over heating and blow your belt, look at your rpm and see what your at at around 25km if your up around 6000rpm you have a problem you should be running around 4-4500 rpm. You also need to check your belt deflection even know you said your clutches are alighned and proper shims if your belt is to loose you will have heat issues.
One last thing did you clean out your snorkel, lots of times when you blow a belt into pieces it all ends up getting stuck in your snorkel and the heat cant escape......

this is very possible.... i would check all this out. clutches should be serviced every 1000 or so imho. to stay with top performance..

Sheaves could have grooves worn into them, make sure they open correctly, belt could be in backwards (they are sopposed to move in one direction, but I doubt it could be much of a problem) clutches could be out of alignment too causing them to stretch.
