Have stock 05 750 with 1600 miles on it. I am considering puting a clutch kit in because I have noticed slower top speed and am having a little rattle noise coming from clutch area at low speeds. I mainly trail ride very little mud. Stock size tires. What is the best clutch kit out there for a stock brute? What do I get in the kit? What are some wear parts to look for? Thanks

1600 miles and reduced top speed = time for a new belt, not clutch kit. Your belt is probably just worn down enough to prevent it from riding high enough in the primary, which in turn will lower your top speed. Try a new belt and cleaning clutch and it will be good as new, unless your looking for more performance, but with stock tires and mainly trail riding I would not think a clutch kit is the answer for you. If you do go with a kit get a Dalton kit for adjustability and Dalton OD cover for more top speed.

Had new belt less than 100 miles ago. Nothing was done to the clutch when belt was added. I will tear clutch out and clean to see if this helps. I'll let you know if I see any improvement.

Ok. Pulled off cover today and started. The Primary moves in and grabs the belt as soon as you start. It makes the Secondary spin when it is in neutral at idle. When you put in gear you can hear the belt rubbing on the primary. Is this normal? Primary spring is all one solid color but does have a spot painted in Pink. Bought the ATV used is it possible this could have an aftermarket kit in it or do the factory springs have this Pink mark? Idle is realy low.

That sounds like a kawi spring, just did my Teryx clutch and it had one spot on it also. Have you checked your belt deflection, if it was adjusted by a previous owner it might have had a shim taken out to tighten an old belt and when you put a new belt on my be too tight and need a shim put back in.

Not sure about the shim. Were would it be located? I also noticed I can compress the clutch a 1/4 to a 1/2 an inch with my hand. Does this sound like a weak spring?

The shim would be in the secondary, primary is easy to compress. Do you get any belt squeal after sitting in gear after a few seconds?

Checked belt deflection and it's on the money. With engine off I can free spin the belt by hand. Yes you can hear the belt squeal just a little when in gear but as I said before as soon as you start the engine the clutch moves in and hits the belt. How free should the clutch be? It doesn't take much preasure at all with one hand to make it slide.

remove clutch bolt, reverse thread, pop the cover off, you can leave clutch on bike, just loose off in cross pattern, nothing for pressure, watch for aliment pins(2) when cover comes off, check spring, watch there may be a big washer under spring. measure spring or take to your dealer(always my last course of action).

Ok took the Primary and the Secondary off today. Lots of dirt and what looks like belt dust. I took out spring in Primary and it looks like there is alot of wear on the movable sheave were it moves on the spider (grooves). Is this normal? Something that needs to be replaced? Also notied the secondary spring is Purple, is this stock?

In the attachments you can kind of see what i'm talking about. Is this normal? I can feel grooves with my finger on only one of the posts. Anything I can do to fix or should I even worry about it?
