BRP Sled delay for fall of 2021

Wow. Just read an article that BRP sleds may have a delay this fall because of the world wide chip shortage. CEO Jose Boisjoli said the sleds will be built on time but may stay at the BRP shipping yard until these chips can be retrofitted into the units once they arrive. Not sure this will affect all snowmobile makes but have to assume it will? I guess I should have kept my sled instead of selling it. Might be a late start to the season?

I bought a seadoo spark last year when they were still cheap. Go try to find one right now.

I'm wondering if that big chip plant in Texas is up and running yet? There are a lot of cars and trucks parked in remote lots as well as phones and electronics parked till they catch up. Crazy covid times

Why wouldn't they ship the sleds to the dealers and then have the dealers install the computer later?

Because dealers don’t like storing hundreds of units for an unknown period of time . They like to get them out the door as fast as they come in. Why take on that liability unless they are making it worth your while

Oh no..... I have a 94 formula z here if you need a sled cuz yours doesn't show up.

In our business world, we are starting to feel the pinch of supply chain issues. Simple stuff - for example - simple, basic 200A Service Panel - little stock and some vendors have no idea when they will get stock. Larger, more specialized gear, who knows. We currently have some equipment on order which had a estimated lead time of 70 weeks! Luckily it's stock items for us.

True but I would rather have the sled sitting at the dealer waiting for the final piece to be shipped by air than have them tell me that it's still sitting at the factory waiting and it will take an additional 2-3 weeks to arrive by truck.

In that case you may as well go pay full purchase price for the sled, store the paperweight in your garage/trailer etc and bring it back to dealer once they get a chip.
It's no different than 100s of thousands of vehicles sitting in factory storage lots waiting for chips meanwhile dealership lots are bare and they are trying to buy any used vehicles possible
As mentioned, once it's on the dealer lot it's their responsibility to store and protect, not the manufacturers. Poor business option for dealers.

-I have for sale-four 200amp federal pioneer panels with 200amp main breaker.
-100 various 15amp-60amp federal pioneer breaker, single and double pole.
-1 square D 600amp 2p big ass switch with 400amp fuses
-5 200amp square D fusible disconnect switches
-1000ft of 14/3 soow wire.
-24 square d 30 amp relays

All are used except for the wire and relays. Buy this stuff. I need beer! Cheers!

I would say good luck. The planet is now 6 months behind on making chips, since everything has gone to just in time delivery. The manufacturers causes their own hardship because no one wants to carry inventory, hence they stopped ordering chips when their plants went down. Now, they can try and ramp up their volume to get back to normal, but chip manufacturers don't have the same capacity. Not saying they won't catch up eventually, but some of you may not be getting a sled this fall.

So do you guys think that this will increase the Used market, or could it possibly just shut down "that" market. Because the customer is wanting new and not used?
"that" is meant for any company that is behind because of this? Or will it spike the market of the little guy companies, because the big guy companies can not keep up with inventory?
