BRP cutting production on sleds.

Just curious where you ride at 8k feet in BC, the highest I have been is 7200 and there was no riding to be had, just killer views.
Went up to the Olive hut a few years ago. Can't remember exactly but think it was over 8000 My na 850 doo felt weak Had to clicker up

You don’t need ….
$28000.00 sled plus a couple spares in case .
$100000.00 truck
$30-$50000.00 trailer
Blah blah , to go out and have a lot of fun in sledding or any sport …
Buy what you can afford and enjoy .
The entitlement is just absolutely crazy anymore with people and then the sky is falling because they can’t afford new every year or two..
Things are costly and outrageous but it’s called sacrifices for a period of time on the fun things as those are wants and not needs .

when the 2 stroke turbo thing started up you could walk out of either of kenD or KenR shops with a 50k bill quite easily
ive had some good days myself, but not until later in the year once a lot of folks had already wrote off the season. Most areas in BC are still low on base by a substantial amount even though there is "fresh" to be had. For guys that have ridden along time why bother when your tip toeing around.

This is the first year i can remember where alot of die hard guys i know didnt even fire up the sled this year. That effects sales
ok but cat didnt release anything new, doo and poo guys have been riding 850s for 8 years. Those snowchecks are cat guys that were just waiting for Cat to do literally anything. The sled performs with the 850s no more no less so its not New IMO, new to cat i guess!! as much as it pains me to say it the 9R is a better performing better value machine than the cat 858 as far as NA sleds go
Cat released the a new 2003.5 rev. Every sled will
Modify off that chassis. Doo needs to roll there engine under there jack shaft. Drop the turbo to there belly pan and as far as I’m concerned skid mounted engine coolers. I don’t think the weight can get less with out more expensive materials or decibal levels being increased . I really don’t think we’re making more power on 91. That’s the future. If they did that this year they wouldn’t have to roll back production.

I agree on alota stuff here but sledding in general is becoming extremely pricey, fuel hotels, sleds, gear, the dollar dont go very far when it comes to sledding say compared to 4-6 years ago. Even if your buyin a new n/a sled there prices have jumped alot and for a person to even consider entering into sledding try to find a decent somewhat reliable sled for less then 7500-10000 is pretty tough. I think alot of people on here always had the new sled money and for tbe first time in a long time new sleds dont make sense they never did but u no what i mean the hit it just to high to the pocket book. And life is pretty pricey now adays

I agree on alota stuff here but sledding in general is becoming extremely pricey, fuel hotels, sleds, gear, the dollar dont go very far when it comes to sledding say compared to 4-6 years ago. Even if your buyin a new n/a sled there prices have jumped alot and for a person to even consider entering into sledding try to find a decent somewhat reliable sled for less then 7500-10000 is pretty tough. I think alot of people on here always had the new sled money and for tbe first time in a long time new sleds dont make sense they never did but u no what i mean the hit it just to high to the pocket book. And life is pretty pricey now adays
Looks like Trudeau’s climate change strategy through carbon tax is starting to work. Wait till the price of carbon goes up to $170ton. Actually it won’t matter as by 2035 there won’t be anymore gas powered sleds unless we start taking a stance against the liberal dictators that run the country on behalf of the monarchy. There’s a reason the natives and caribou are getting control of the land…it’s because sledding will be extinct in due time. But no worries….BRP will be fine, government will bail them out with an agreement to takeover majority stakeholder and get them working on new electric trykes to power our 15min cities…maybe Cat and Poo can get a Tryke deal too! Maybe one day a turbocharged electric tryke!

I don't really know if sock boy's climate change crap is working or not. What I see every weekend is the staging area's plugged solid with out of province plates. and every year it certainly feels like it is getting busier and busier even during the week days

I think that partially due to all the closed areas now concentrating people to open areas.

Reminds me of the stock hp turbo that was "a game changer". Wasn't the aftermarket building those for 15 years first? Except they were just a tad bit more than stock hp...

Kinda the same deal here, the brand loyal go bananas for something new.
Excellent example. Doo faithful laid out the red carpet for the g4 turbo that was beat up by the NA's. Because it was new and exciting, just like the Cat 858. And that's okay. We all buy sleds for differnt reasons and its fun to get something most others don't have. The Cat has some excellent features, The low center of gravity will be like no others and will make Doo and Poo rethink their designs. Sure it won't beat up on a turbo but it is an excellent foundation for future power adders.

Well, ill say I thought it was a lemon, the dealer was persistent to get it fixed, after a few different tries it was fixed after changing both sets of injectors. So you may like your dealer as the sales and parts department are great but if its not the same at the service level you probably will learn to hate your sled and wont be buying a new one or one of that brand. Ill leave that there.

What closed areas? Two caribou closures were rescinded in this area but hotel stays by sledders was about 50% of previous years. Think that was cause no snow combined with the increased price of things.

there was no NA sled touching a G4 Turbo at elevation in deep snow. They worked very well

i also ride mainly around 7000-7500. But my comment wasnt just about BC we are small potatoes compared to snowmobiling in the western US where unloading at 7000ft and riding up to 10kft is just normal

In my area we are way down on visits this year. We averaged 20 riders on the weekend, 2020-2023 we were doing 100.

Im not worried, with inflation in 2035 I will still be driving my 20 000km skidoo t3 and my 1000000 km dodge diesel. Good thing I can pull a wrench
