Re: BRP - Carl Kuster Mountain Park ride

I was amazed at how the kyb shocks worked in the big bumps on the trails.... Trust me the trail down was rough, but the big174 definitely sucked up the bumps better than any sled I've ridden... And I've ridden a lot of different sleds... I have thought about the raptor upgrade, but might just go with the factory kyb for now, as they worked well... In general even with the biggest track available from any manufacturer, the ride was surprisingly light... The front end was almost "tippy", and really helped with the flick ability factor... The machine handles and maneuvers like it is a much smaller and lighter sled-- even though it's not a heavy sled to begin with

The cat guys were an easy doo.... Our one guy has 2 turbo cats and when he broke a part on a previous ride, he rented a 154 summitx and never looked back... He's still keeping his turbo cat, just for point and shoot fun

Yup, text the trails were bad, but I rode the first half of the trail down on a 2014 with raptors on it and then the lower half of the trail on the 174 and I could see the 2014 sleds ahead were doin okay but the big 174 just soaked the bumps much better

Been there every year since BRP started this. This is my third time. Always enjoy a day with Carl. I have known him for a number of years back when he raced snocross with Blair. I told my new boss I wanted the Kuster rides in my contract as the dealer rep. HaHa.

Re: BRP - Carl Kuster Mountain Park ride

I rode the raptor 2014 and the t3 with kyb's.... both worked good, but I think I'd give the nod to the raptor(slight)

the thing about the raptors is they have 20 clicker positions and you need to have it tuned on the right clicker for the size of the bumps otherwise they could end up feeling way worse than stock. but once you get them on that sweet spot there is no comparison. i adjust mine heading up and then heading down the trail, most just leave them all year but definitely not getting the most out of the shock.

Re: BRP - Carl Kuster Mountain Park ride

Looks like a fun weekend.. We ran into a group of Doo's on Thursday in the back of Eagles, last 2 sleds were the 163 and 174T3's.. Figured it was a group from CKMP.. I stopped hoping somebody would hold back and let me take the 174 for a rip but no dice - they all just kept on following in a line.. Was planning on keeping my 13' but as time goes on my arm may get twisted.. My wife loves surprises..

Carl's OCD is some of the best i've seen on the mountain.. In every shot the sleds are lined up, the trailer is loaded perfectly, the chairs in the shop in a perfect row.. Love it!!

The longer track will bridge the moguls better and give you a smoother ride. Too bad they didn't have a 174 with Raptors/Evols to try, you could probably run full throttle down the trail.

Re: BRP - Carl Kuster Mountain Park ride

Unfortunately it's tough to get a ride. When he's touring BRP guests he has roughly 12 and needs to give them all a certain amount of time riding plus you need to sign your life away, lay down a Drivers License and a credit card. Tough to do on the side of a mountain.
Thant being said...it was awesome.

The Raptors also have twice the oil capacity, the stock kyb 36's work ok until you push them, then they chit the bed...
