First trip of the season we were up on frisby ridge doing some tree riding on a socked in day and I whacked a tree pretty good, bent up an a arm, and broke off one of the tabs used to secure the hood on with a torx screw. So I decided to share with you guys what I did to fix my problem. My buddy had the same issue so I done both sleds the same. I went to my local Polaris dealer and bought some of their hood pins and clips, as used on nytros and pro rmks. My friend cut out some thin aluminum in the same shape as the tabs and I riveted one piece on top, one piece on bottom, cut the hole for the new pin and inserted the retainer clip inside the hood. If you are going to do this I suggest you use very thin aluminum as it was a bit of a pita first time doing it to get everything to fit the length of the pin itself. It's a very simple mod, and makes for removal of the hood super easy, and it looks to me like it belongs there. Here's some pics.

I will keep that in mind, because i like logging too. Thanks. You could always use the thumb screw that is used on the clutch side side panel on the 13's too it's a little longer than the 1/4 turn latches.

Hmm. You have a point. I forgot it had broken and a week before my last trip I noticed again so it was a bit of a rush job. I may look into putting something a bit longer on there later but for now these work awesome! And it sure beats the hell outta fumbling with a torx driver in cold temps!

I broke that same tab in a similar incident with a tree. I just plastic welded it back on (took 10min) and forgot about. Never gave any probs.

Yeah I didn't retrieve my other broken piece. Didn't know it was busted till I got back to the cabin.
