Broke clutch puller

must be a cheap clutch puller, i was takeing off my primary and ive done it before but this time it was really tight gave one more hard pull and bang the puller broke in half so now what? ive got 3inches of puller in my hand and the rest locked in and about 2inches just in side the bolt hole. anyone have some wise ideas???

you can try to heat the shaft on the primary with a hair dryer or heat gun..

if it was mine i would use a torch but thats me.. there will be enough tension on there that it should pop.. but be carefull..

boiling water on the inner part of the clutch and then put the broken end in and rap it hard with a hammer.

As B.H said The boiling water should pop it off then the rap with the hammer should take care of the rest, I would pour a second batch of hot water before you give it a whack

park your sled outside for a few hours before pouring the boiling hot water on the inner sheave. guarenteed to work. drag it back in the shop, dont start the engine too ride the sled back inn

thanks guys heated up and a couple wacks and it flew off had to catch it! now i did not see where my marks were in line with engine? does it matter as long as all the clutch is marked and assembled inline ?

I think you should be OK the clutch halves lining up is the most important.

correct. for future reference the clutch puller is only designed for 80ft/lbs. after that other methods need to be used

took me a while to get mine off today on my xp as well ended up using the water trick then popped right off
