Bring it on. Whether its $300 or $700 there will still be those who go out of their way to avoid paying any memberships or trail fees (just look at Nelson, Castlegar, etc) which in turns hurts their own club and this will continue as there is no one to police it.

As long as the big clubs get their fair share it I can see it getting voted in, it will in turn lead to the small clubs not participating and more than likely be a work in progress for the next several years before it can be resolved anyways.

Then you will have people even more frustrated by a provincial seasonal pass to ride their main areas and have a crappy grooming program (fernie, sorry but its become that) and the club will just point fingers back to the BCSF. Just because the funds are allocated by one potential entity doesn't mean the club will be any better managed.

I agree completely. The Cranbrook Club will undoubtedly be raising their rates at least enough to cover the ten dollar increase that was voted in for the BCSF portion of the membership fees. I predict a 10% drop in memberships because of that, there are too many other areas to ride around here without having to join a club.
Keep in mind the provincial pass is only going to apply to managed areas, not all Crown lands.

41 clubs were present out of 71 in province. Vote was 29/12 and all the big clubs voted against. The BCSF membership increased $7.50 to $35 now. I would expect more clubs big and small to go out on their own.

IMHO, an increase of $7.50 isn't a deal breaker. How long has it been steady at $26.50? The BCSF needs money to operate and it makes sense to increase the dues. Everybody else has had to do it to provide services. Even the clubs have had to increase membership fees and/or daily trail pass fees to be able to meet the bottom line.

If clubs op-out over that increase, then how do they expect to get help when the chit hits the fan with the expected fore-coming NDP land closures?

there were a few clubs that were present at the fall meeting that did not attend the spring meeting my guess is that some of those would be in favor of a pass.

the increase had to do with other initiatives that even people who voted against the provincial pass study had strong positive feelings about.

It was $35 before the ABC/BCSF split. Our club has increased it`s membership fee for the coming season $20 a single and $30 a family to cover this increase and our bottom line. You don`t see the cost of doing business ever go down. Rec. Sites and Trails sets club`s daily pass fee. It would be great if we could charge $25 like surrounding clubs do. Fees are collected on behalf of Gov. and they designate how that $ can be spent.
BCSF membership fees purchase insurance for the clubs through the BSF. That bill is approximately 1/2 of fees collected from clubs.
Lots of them don`t have chit like caribou closures and proposed carbon taxes for snowmobilers to deal with.

personally I thought this was not the way to go at all ...and I probably will be in shat for saying so If was a group of owners(or clubs) belonging into a organization that approved a study I would only pay for start up costs not for a majority of the total costs . Also i would want progress reports and some accountability of spending.
