Looks like a good group having an awesome day out........never tried a trials bike.....looks like loads of fun.....how technical is it, easy to pick up or lots of time in the seat to be any good at it.???

Good question, I often wonder the same. I made a deal with myself when I was a teenager to stay off fast things on two wheels, but it sure looks like a lot of fun. What cost, in terms of broken bones, does it take to gain confidence on the type of terrain shown in the pictures?

Trials is amazing, the secret is to go out for the first few weeks on easy terrain and going as slow as possible so you learn to let the bike do the work, you don't need speed but rather technique to make it up stuff as with anything. If you go slow you need to weight the bike to get up stuff, if you learn with speed you will eventually crash and reach a plateau. They are easy to ride and you are only limited in what you can achieve by how much you ride. I got my first bike last September and rode 3 times during the winter since I was sledding most days, so I don't have a lot of seat time but I was a pro mountain biker for 15 years and I ride sleds, moto, pedally bikes etc every day. It is now one of my favorite things to do close to home...plus trials bikes are easy to find used and their owners are a little older don't crash like dirt bikes or get thrashed and so picking up one fo 3000.00 to 5 grand is easy and will last you forever since they dont get pinned out...super fun! Life is short give it a whirl! dave
