Ok after a few years fighting with the creeks and a shale mountain side I was wondering if there would be a way to make a few temp bridges over the creeks and maybe put up a small snow fence over the shale face to keep the snow there during the winter months. Calgary snowmobile club would be a great help but would this be something to look at for those that use this area. Just my thoughts while the weather is nice. and im sure that there is some dead fall that could be put together. This would save the streams and be good for everyone... we could do it on the first ride trail clean-up

I have thought about this as well.If it ever happened i would do my best to help out. But i do also like the fact its a little challenging, do to the creek crossings and rock riding. Most people wont ride there and beet on there sleds to get there . This is better for us LOL

Easier access would mean more traffic back there for sure. That being said,I would love at least snow fences put up on the "thin" area's to save the ski's and carbides.Bridges would be nice but not as important. The problem isn't getting people to do it and help out,it's getting the Kananaskis and Parks dept to get on board and approve. It's hard enough lining up a area clean-up with them I have been told.

i woiuld be all in for something like this, would make it much easier to access all the stuff on the elkford side:d. this is the main reason i never really hit fording any more, lack of snow and the trail that can murder a sled.

I would look into permits. ( From my experience with bridges elsewhere )
If some thing is built w/o permits and the right people find out . The bridges will be moved ..
I am all for building stuff to better the environment and access but it just a thought

I started on the fence about this idea, but leaning towards the side of leaving it as is.

It is such a small area to begin with that if you basically paved the trail, it would be a sh!tshow. It would also lead to more unknowledgeable people crossing the divide and increase the chance people would be riding in off limits areas which could lead to the whole area being closed down.

At the first of every year I have went over with neddacsac and crew and we have cleared the trail of all fallen trees with the chainsaw we have packed with us. We have also spent more hours that i care to count filling in holes on the climb up the divide to ensure it is good for the entire season - only to come back days later when an inexperienced rider has tried to climb in and completely wrecked it.

Leave it as is, if a rider isn't good enought to get over as is, leave the snow for someone who is. Take the newbies to a groomed area, thats where I take my wife!

Well guys I agree that it isnt a spot for the newbies and i dont want to pave a hiway but the area is a nice one and i do enjoy hitting itat least a couple of times a year but i do wish that there was a better crossing over the creeks and maybe a marked trail further back into BC towards Elkford area..... cause there is some great riding the further you go back AND!!! YES thank you to the group that does the cleanup..... let me know when you do that and i will try to help out that day. its kinda funny cause i think that i have been out with just about everyone that replied to this post.... Heres to a great season guys. See you all soon

i disagree.... if you know where you are going it is quit large back up here. as well once you drop into elkford side and hit the road, there are tons of very LARGE areas to be had :d

anyone find anything out with the permits?? can we do this sometime>
