I know this was brought up before in a different thread, but does anyone know what the resistor size should be for the brake lite on a 2004 800 Summit X, when using the newer style brake lites, or any brakelite without the resistor in it??

I did this last year and used a 3A 300V diode in the white wire of the tail light harness. Got it at Radio Shack Ric.

Hey
What is the reasoning behind this? I just wired a new taillight that is all LEDS to my sled, and it works great is this a problem?

What happens is the 'parking brake on' warning light on the tach stays on all of the time. I believe this is caused by amperage coming back through the wiring to the warning light. The diode acts like a check valve only allowing enough amperage to operate the tail light. Think I read something like that about this set-up on another site - no electrician here I tell ya!!!!!!!!!!!:d
