Hey guys,

Wondering if anyone has ever fab'ed up a tunnel dump for their turbo's. Last week it was crazy deep sticky snow and the exhaust bog was killing me, I was getting stuck because of it and wasn't very fun.
Also wondering what the turbo spec is on the GSX upgrade from boost it, they do not have it listed on their website is it the same trim etc, as the one in the stock kit but with ball bearing journals and a billet compressor wheel?
Last question, is the dump flange a standard Garrett T3 5 bolt pattern? I know there are 3 5 bolt patterns out there, (Mercedes, Ford etc.)

Thanks!!

I'm 99.9% sure your turbo will be a GTX 2863, not a GSX, It is very similar to the GT 2860 (which I have) except the GTX has 11 blades instead of 10 and is a billet instead of cast compressor wheel, the compresser exducer diameters are also slightly different but they are very much the same turbo in the range these sleds operate them in. But yes they run the standard 5 bolt garret outlet.

IMO I would be very careful how you route your exhaust, heat is a killer for the Quickdrive and those pipes get real hot when running so at the very least I would put header wrap on it to keep the heat down. This is my biggest pet peeve with all the other turbo kits they put a lot of heat on the belt and also put parts in the way that make it difficult to change the belt later.

Well on the web site there is the GTX upgrade 500, and GSX 400$ (specified as a quicker spooling turbo)... So I dont know?..

I was planning on putting exhaust wrap on it for sure. Wow well does it work though? Also, if the pipe is routed closer to the pannel with some reflective heat tape to protect it should be OK wouldn't you think? My buddy has a boondocker with tunnel dump and hes had zero issues.

Garrett doesn't make a GSX series turbo, so I'm not sure, I want to say it was a typo on the website, as it was a $400 difference last year for the GTX. Like I said I'm 99.9% sure it will be a GTX 2863, this is what Neil was selling as an upgrade to the GT 2860RS last year. As for header wrap it works quite well, I have it on my exhaust and I can put my hand on it right after riding, don't get me wrong its hot but not melt you skin off hot. You may not have an issue with the heat on the belt, I just wasn't going to take the chance, cheap insurance.

the gsx is a billet wheel but not quite as aggressive as the gtx,the gsx wheel flows better on bottom end & is much smoother power than the gtx,the gtx will make more top end power though.the turbo itself is just a standard garret turbo will bolt right in where your other turbo was & is the 5 bolt dump, neil has the gsx turbos built for them from his supplier.if this is a boost-it kit i dont think the bog would be from the dump,do you have your intake under hood or out.

take and get the new tunnel dump and get it ceramic coated, then heat wrap it and you should have no heat related issues

Didn't know Neil had got a different wheel for them, cool.

But to expand on this my intake is under the hood and if I get a bunch of snow on the pipe the steam getting sucked into the intake causes it to bog.

Yes the intake is under the hood, I plan on doing the cold air intake as well as the tunnel dump. The sleds running good, but the snow was DEEP and it was humid/warm out last week and was fresh wet/sticky snow. The intake is probably part of the issue. But once I could get the sled moving, it would rip, I just couldn't stop in the deep with the conditions we had those days. I just want to reduce any possibility of this happening again.

Are any of you having problems with the quick drive slipping under WOT and heavy load? I felt ratcheting but my track is pretty tight. Maybe im just being paranoid lol.

If your running the stock drivers the track will still ratchet even if tight especially under boost.
