Getting a new sub-frame (tunnel + bulkhead). I'm looking for any suggestions on how to mod it a little.

I.E. powdercoat, aftermarket tail light, bumper, flap,

does anyone have any pics of what they have done??? I just want to get my sled back looking a little modded i guess.

annozize it blac..

dont powdercoat it. it will weigh more and chip and be more expensive and make bolts hard to put in

save powdercoating for suspension parts

but black tunnel and bulkhead would be sick

Maybe a dump question but how do they anondize aluminum, is it using a acid or some other chemical.

not dumb. its a chemical coating that is electically charged like plating.

cast aluminum does not tend to look good due to the impurities in it. For the most part, billet aluminum alloys anodized best.

powdercoating is just that. sprayed on and heated.

anodizing is thin and more even..how ever its not glossy like powdercoating

So does anodizing make it more durable or just change the color? And will a guy still have to polish?

yes there is.. a few things i would suggest for chassis

1. tunnel stiffner from specialty sleds.
2. rear footrests
3.engine torque arm
4.smitty rear suspension drop bracket
5.machined a-arm bushings
6. bulkhead stiffener
7. rail stiffener

doesnt make it more durable...i guess it protects and whatnot..but more for looks.

its also easier to clean

no polishing but cleaning still

im sure u can polish it i never have..

it doesnt shine like chromeing or anything

some lighter colors can shine nice though

Thanks maxwell, tunnel stiffener is done.

can you get bulkhead stiffener for the XP? i think that would be a great idea!! Who makes these if you know.

Also, who makes the rear footrests? I sure like the kit you can buy for CAT that cuts the rear of the boards off and installs a footrest.
