I'm not a boater, but don't most people back the trailer right in the water instead of trying to skid the boat down the ramp?
Thought maybe they were waiting for the tide......but was to busy laughing to ask. Apparently this happens here more often than it should

not sure why people are so eager to take off the safety chain from the bow while launching. See it so many times and only takes once like this to cause problems.

I was out on the Koocanusa the other day and was amazed how many small cars were parked in the stalls made for truck and boat trailers, even had a large camping trailer in one of the stalls

Don't be hard on the Kootenay hippies, they have paddle boards so they can park in the boat trailer parking lots.

IF the boat has umhw or Teflon they slide pretty easy on bunks to, buddy of mine had his boat done and had to change his unloading procedure after a episode,

The first couple of times I loaded my boat with uhmw I smashed it into my trailer. Took some getting used to

I have bunks as well and they’’re covered with UHMW. IMHO, it’s not worth taking a chance to save 30 seconds by unhooking everything before wheels are in the water.

It has never moved once backing down any ramp until its deep enough to fire the engine. Then I stop get her running then have the driver back in a bit more to let me go. My experience...

Ramey ? Lol
Slow and easy .
Most I see back way to far in with a river boat anyway.
I only back in far enough so water is just over the back of bunks .
Pump will push you on.

It takes me less than 1 minute (unaided) to launch. Hit brakes when truck tires touch water. 3 minutes for the electric winch to pull onto trailer. ( unaided). Love having the same simple boat for the past 35 years.

I’m very likely way too cautious, but I just can’t get myself to take a chance.
