Boat Exhaust

Seeking an exhaust manifold for a Mercruiser 165hp inboard. Its based on a Chev 250ci engine. Cant seem to find anything other then online shipping out of North Carolina. Anyone know of a place maybe in Canada or Northwestern US

250 straight 6, very common motor used in the marine world. But Alberta will not be the place you'll find something like that, atleast at a reasonable cost. Check Vancouver boat and marine SALVAGE and WRECKER's. You'll probably find what your looking for.

Thanks. I have already looked at that site and will likely use it unless I find something way cheaper. They want to charge me $73 shipping to Calgary, or $50 to Montana shipping outlet. Seems way to cheap for a part that weighs over 50lbs.

USED to be very common. I don't plan to find a new one in Calgary, but somewhere closer then NC. I kinda want new as I don't need the headache of a used one that is cracked.

Believe me its still very common in Vancouver....thousands of old boats there and hundred are wrecked daily. They give a guarantee, the marine industry is huge there. You can pretty much get anything involving marine application.

Figured no time like the present to tear into it, so I removed the exhaust and the exhaust riser. Riser has a hole I could stick my finger thru, and manifold was full of water and had this nice crack in it.

A 1966 Grew fibreglass that was my uncles. It originally had the engine from a 1966 Buick Skylark, but was changed out as OMC stern drive parts were a nightmare to find. BOAT: Bring Out Another Thousand. Spent $800 this spring on new white interior, and $700 on having the head welded during the summer. Damned money pits!

Thats a nice looking boat.
Those motors were installed in many sail boat's.

She's a beauty! All the maintenance on older equipment is a labour of love and do not always make sense either financially or from time expenditure so you really have to enjoy the time you use it.

Last boat I had wasn't getting enough use and sat in my shed for a couple years. I friend of mine bought a cabin at Anglin Lake in Saskatchewan and couldn't quite swing buying a boat as the cabin cost more than he expected. Sold it to him for a loonie and he is still using it five years later. Makes me feel good to see that boat used and maintained.

It was also used in a lot of the older displacement hall boats, like smaller commercial fishing boats and cruiser's, even used as twins on larger cruiser's. They were popular, more so then the V8 configuration because it allowed for a more compact setup so the stern didn't need to be as wide. This allowed for the hall to cut the water more efficiently and that was important for a displacement hall. There are a lot of 20-40yr old boats still being used at the coast, you just need to make a few phone call's, you'll find one.
