Bluetooth helmet system

Hello all. My son is ready for the trails this year with his dirt bike. I have been thinking a bluetooth helmet set up might be a good idea to talk with him to slow him down on the trail because he loves to go fast! Have been looking at Cardo and Freedconn t-com , Scala has such bad customer support so thinking maybe stay away from them I'm thinking. What are people using and liking? Thanks for the help!

I have the Sena 20s.

Only complaint is the flip up antenna could be easy to break off.

But I think the have a model now that has a new antenna design. 20s evo.

The wife and I run the 20s evo, were also in a rzr. For two people it's great. Excellent sound quality while only 2 are paired.
When you add a third or more it's like going from FM radio to am.
Also note when you get over hills or in the trees you'll lose connection so ya got stay kinda close. I'd say 100m tops in those conditions for distance then it gets sketchy.
This conclusion is from riding the beach and in the trees at Brule and trails out at Vega.
Those are the only places we ever had a 3rd connected

Me and the boy have been using cardo snowmobiling and dirtbike riding.They work on line of sight,as long as i can see him i can talk with him,they also sync with your phone to answer calls and listen to music while riding.they were a little pricey but well worth it imo.

Thanks again. That is good info. I have looked at the Cardo and like them just don't like the price. What one are you using from Cardo? Do you know anyone using the FreedConn T-COM?

I have the Cardo packtalk bold duo,I don't know anyone using the freedConn.

I have an older model SENA. It's been really good for the last 5 or so years. Been soaked, beaten up and abused and is still working fine. I like the battery life and the fact that the actual bluetooth unit (transmitter/receiver) clips into the wiring harness. I have a harness (mic/headphones) in my bike helmet and another in my quad helmet and can just swap the transmitter unit between the two. It can pair to your cell for tunes/calls or it can pair directly to other nearby bluetooth units for intercom.

We use the Freecom 2 - third year in use and still like them. The Carlos are water resistant -rode over 3000 Kim’s in the rain on one trip and no issue.

Stick with the name brand equipment and away from the ebay/amazon junk... I purchased 2 different units from ebay first unit worked ok but it was advertised as 3 riders can communicate at the same time.. but would only do 2 at a time and it was a real pain to switch between the 2... Second set all 3 of us could communicate at once but the distance was far from advertised was lucky to get 10 feet with it.. it would also randomly on the unit in my little ones helmet would emit a high pitch squeal and full volume, we even tried switching units in her helmet with no difference.. This actually caused her to get into 2 accidents before i ripped it out of her helmet... The seller was a joke for help or warranty and ebay/paypal was even worse... Both the products had good feedback but im thinking on the second one it was all fake or paid feedback. I always enjoyed ridding with my little one and the head set as she would sing the whole trip..LOL

I have the Scalarider from Cardo, have had them now for 5+years maybe longer and love them. I originally bought them to ride our adventure motorcycles with the wife when we tour, she rode her own. Found that they worked so well that we use them with the snowmobiles also. So they are used all year round in all weather, rain to snow, hot or cold we have never had an issue with them.
You can take incoming cell call's, listen to your favorite tunes and capable of linking to multiple riders.
They do have a range limit depending on model, mine is about 1-1 1/2km on the tarmac and about 1/2km on trail at most, line of sight is best. It also advises you when you lose connection with the other rider.
Wife and I won't ride without them, tarmac or snow.

Thanks for the info as well. I have been looking at the Cardo line up. They are not cheap but sounds like they are worth it. You get what you pay for I guess.
