I was riding my pride a joy last weekend out in Morinville hitting some great powder and just having a ball...I suspect I dis-lodged my air filter and as a result took in a fair amount of snow and blew the top-end. The air filtration system is real week in my opinion. The "cushion" is a good idea as the design is sound as long as the filter doesn't come out! The manner in which it is mounted is a joke! Thanks BRP! I guess some is my fault for not noticing until I had it blown...Check your filter and make sure it's in right!

If you had your carb heaters on that may have helped cause some problems, they will cause it to run lean if it is warm out and they are on.

The best thing you can do on these late model xp's is get rid of the couch pillow and go back to the 08 screen filter and make some flowrites for the back of the airbox.

OK now I`m getting worried. I have 5200 km not hard but mountain and trail riding. Maybe take a look at it this spring if I make it. Worked it HARD this weekend in deep wet snow worked OK. Tick tock

what do you think it was?
flange for the airbox was off on the pto carb. must have loosened the clamp and vibed off and sucked in some snow or water. best that I can figure anyways....intake side of the piston was the worst, like it expanded and then rubbed the exhaust side too. almost like it starved for oil, looks like a 4 corner or cold seize.

intake side....

I broke my 08 on Saturday at Allan Creek. Playing in some powder, then carved up a small incline.... and it felt like somebody hit the kill switch. Grabbed the pull cord praying it would move, and nothing. Waited a few minutes, turned it over, and it fired up. Got most of the way back to the cabin before it seized again. This time when it cooled down enough to move, it didn't sound good when I slowly pulled the cord. Had to get a turbo yammy and a buddy's Rev hooked up like a train to make the last 2 hills before the trail. I haven't looked at it since we muscled it up onto my sled deck. Any bets on crank vs top end?
