Block heater cords on new Chevys

So whats GM's thinking here? To many block heater warranty claims? Trying to go green? You would think this would put more strain on engine parts and limit glow plug life?

I thought it was -13 but anyway. I assume its a no need to until -18. In their opinion.

Never done it on a duramax but those inline glycol heaters work pretty good too.

I would think it has something to do with the greenies and some idea they think works for us

And on the gassers it's -18 not sure on a diesel

I got -13 from the service counter guy in Rexberg ID when I bought the wife's enclave. Probably different... I guess.

Go on the dodge diesel site. Guy on there suggesting at -5 you should put Vaseline on all door/window seals.....and windshield wipers !!!! So they don't freeze shut!!
