In the Edmonton and surrounding area does anyone know details of any weird and unbelievable crashes that have happened over the years?
I know on one on 184st and 100ave where a lady didn't stop, hit the gas, flew up the huge sound barrier and over the houses and landed in the street! Plus...SHE LIVED!
Another was about 2 yrs ago, a guy was driving East on the Jellohead, something happened and veered off to the left missing the Beverly bridge and going over the embankment, flying through the air to hit the North Sask River below.
Anyone have another?

This summer my cousin was driving our kenworth with a empty end-dump and hit a TJ jeep. The kids in the jeep did a rolling stop by a patch of trees and he just caught them with the front right corner of the truck after locking up the breaks and swerving into the other lane trying to miss them. As you can imagine the semi didn't stop and ended up halfways on top of the jeep. This jeeps really arent made for safety, the roll cage was basically torn off.

My dad was one of the first ones on the scene and still can believe both the kids lived. The ones head was bleeding, STARS ended up meeting the ambulance on the 36. My cousin walked away from the crash with just a cut on him arm(6 inches long and basically right to the bone) from the truck window breaking. It's just lucky that the trailer was empty and the smallest of all our trailers since the others are probably twice the weight.

The kid driving the jeep was maybe 17 and had dropped out of school, but after the crash he has decided to go back and at least get his diploma.

Good one! I had a near crash 3 winters ago. I was driving my old F-150 home west on the Jellohead towards Stony Plain. I had a Honda XL 600 tied securely in the bed(project for resale). I was cruising at 110 and just about at the Stony overpass when my truck spun just a bit and slid slightly to the left. Not worried, I countered and eased the gas slightly and counter steered. Well, it came back and went a hair farther out to the other side...And on and on till I was at full right lock sliding under the stony Bridge! I went off the road in a huge cloud of snow just as I cleared the overpass! Realizing that if I didn't floor it I was going to be really, really stuck in the deep snow,.. well, I floored the poor beast and drove up the embankment and around some lumpy obstacles in the snow. Then came down the side again. Now, with hardly any visibilty(I was bouncing around and snow was going over the hood), The rig that had slowed down to watch the action slowly went by on the highway as I clawed my way through the last bit of plowed snow as I barely made onto the road again and tucked in behind him. I drove 90 the rest of the way. Bike didn't move, but glad I had the weight of that stuffed pig 600! W

The wife and I were living in Edmonton back in the 70s and witnessed an accident on 118 ave over by the airport. We had come to a stop at a light when there was one hell of a bang.

A car had rear ended another and as I was watching the driver he backed up hitting the car behind him.He then pulled forward and hit the one again that he had first hit.

Deciding he wasn't done he then climbed the median and went around the car he had hit at first and halfway into the center of the intersection threw the car in reverse and hit the front end of the same car he initially hit then went forward making a right turn infront of everyone from the center lane and sped off.

I swear this happened and as long as I live will never see another that even comes close to it.LOL

A Canada post van was west bound hwy16 and coming up to the evansburg bridge. Driver fell asleep and veered off the highway on the right side just before the guard rail. The van flew down into to pembina river valley with no fatalities. They were gathering mail for A week Those of u who ride valemount would no this bridge. I think at 120 this couldn't be done twice with out injury. Must be a record for big air to fly like that in a van

About 3 or 4 years ago that freight hauler that was going Eastbound on the yellowhead in the wrong lanes, and eventually went over the edge of the CN overpass. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the driver was from Grande Cache.

my buddy was hauling a super b load of lumber by redwater, young fella just off night shift fell asleep and wandered into his lane with his ford pickup. they hit head on, knocked the steering axle out from his western star and he rolled into the ditch. the ford was totally crumpled, my buddy wouldn't go look because he figured it was going to be a bloody mess. the other TCM truck he was travelling with went and looked, buddy had somehow got thrown onto the seat like he was laying down and escaped with hardly a scratch. they could only see his cowboy boots from the drivers' side, and he was trapped inside until they freed him with jaws of life. totally wrecked my buddy for driving, he went back to driving for a week and had to quit.

when his western star came to a halt on it's passenger side in the ditch, he was missing a shoe and couldn't find it. when they cleaned up the wreck they found his shoe under the pile of lumber, figured that when it went over he stepped on the passenger window and his shoe got cleaned off his foot sliding in the ditch....freaky man.

In december a few years back,I was just on the edge of the city going west. It was about 2 am and had left a X-mas party. I was sitting at the last set of lights before it turned into Hwy 16a. All alone sitting on the hwy, a little black car went flying past me through the red disappearing into the distance.

As I started driving I thought nothing of it, just another crazy on the road.
As I was coming up to the section where it dips up and down there was a cloud of dust lingering. I glanced at something red to my left and saw...something in the field about 30-40m away. I pulled over, now realizing it was that little black car upside down. I took a deep breath, grabbed my flashlight and went to see the damage expecting to see carnage.

The car was upside down, crushed roof, headlight and tail light(1 each) still on, pieces were strewn everywhere. I peered in and all I saw was this blonde curly hair and a crying girl. She was so drunk and rubbery, she didn't have a scratch on her.

I called the ambulance and called here home after finally getting some info from her. I remember saying "hi, sorry to wake you, but..." it was her dad on the other end and she was upset after breaking up with her boyfriend. The cops arrived with the ambulance and I faded away back to my truck.

The car must've rolled a number of times...she was really lucky to walk away from that.

working a reno at northgate mall just over 2 years ago, an elderly lady was driving up the ramp to the above ground parking. no one know for sure what happened but i'm guessing either accelerator stuck or she had a seizure. went up the ramp at high speed, and strait through the guard rail and over the edge of the above ground, landed about 2 feet from a security guard who was standing having a smoke, missed to trucks but about 6" a piece landing right between them, she was banged up but other than a new guard rail and her car no other damage......security guard took some stress leave......quite the show

here's one, no pic tho.

when i was young and very dumb, i drunk drove , was tryin to catch up to my friend in his 5.0L, so 170 in a cav was performed, left hand curve came up quik, and i oversteered, car was swingin back and forth, finally straightening it out towards a foot thick green power pole,
BANG!!!!!!!
As i thought to myself that wasnt to bad, BANG!!!!!! pole had landed ontop of roof, shattering sunroof, and pushing the roof down in between me and a buddy.
we both got out and surveyed the damage, someone called the cops and we heard our friend(who was layin down in the backseat!!) start yellin WTF!

Quik note, buddy in the backseat was previously sitting in middle of rear seat, and THANKFULLY he passed out.

As i stood there and took it all in, the cops showed, asked me to sit in the back of the cruiser,(remember i was pissed before the accident)
I told him my story, and he let me walk to gathger sum things from my car.
Lucky? i think so!!!

It was just outside Field BC between kicking horse and 10 mile hill launched off a 12' embankment and skidded down the river like a curling rock till it hit the sand bar

The pic is of his skid marks he flew off right behind the sign
