BEWARE Terra Alps and advice

So a little background, I sent my Polaris engine to Ted at Terra Alps in early October. He promised a 6 week turn around. At the end of November I contacted him and was told my engine was nearly completed and would ship that week. Now it is January and I still do not have my engine. I have been calling and emailing for 2 weeks now and get no response. I was concerned that Ted wasn't around so I asked someone I knew in Kelowna to swing over there and see if Ted was around. He was there and told my brother that my engine was not assembled. My brother told him he needed to contact me ASAP and several days later I have still not heard from him. Already I have missed over a month of riding and am out $2500, I am wondering if I am ever going to see my engine.

Advice? Do I get the RCMP involved? Can I involve my credit card company? Other options?

this is scary. SO many stories exactly like this from Terra Alps. i cant beleive hes still in business. i hear he does good work though which is too bad! i would say send your brother back there and wait on his doorstep until its assembled.

like maxi says, this is an all too common complaint. you will get your engine, and will be happy with the work. when? who the fawk knows....heard of guys driving several hours to show up on his doorstep to get their stuff back. sometimes finished, sometimes not.....good luck man.

have heard same stoy over and over about this guy too. burns a lot of bridges and bashes other guys as well. Hope you ge it figured. I can't see why he shouldn't be able to refund and send your parts back to you.

RCMP won't get involved in a civil matter.

I have heard this complaint about him at least a dozen times since I started reading sledding forums. Its a real shame that there is vendors in our sport that conduct business this way.

ya I had the same thing happen a few years ago. Towrope teddy was first to offer his service up. I ywo was promised a quick turn around and 4 months later and many attempted calls emails and people showing up on his doorstep I got a message back saying it was done. The sled grenaded in eagles pass 150 kms later. hopefully you get it back soon and it works well sorry about you luck man it truly does suck

You can get your credit card company involved after 90 days. Your problem is you gave the engine to him. I would pay the guy a visit.

He's a POS. Sold me $2500 worth of sh1t that didn't work. His pro rmk engine kit. Took 90 days almost exactly to get the parts. Copied parts from other vendors I would say and mickey moused together to call it a kit. Never ran right.... 1000 miles of tuning and f!%^ing around and I ripped the crap out. I still have it in a box if anybody wants it.

exactly. how many times have we read this exact same thing? doesn't anybody do any research? it almost makes me want to say that if you believe in fairies and unicorns you are on your own, but I just don't have it in me. leave your chit stock if you don't know fawk all about it, unless of course you like polaris and want it to run like it's supposed to.

The guy is a good talker and he knows the other vendors. I had him tell me lies about other vendors that I brought up in conversation and tell me that they copied him or that their stuff didn't work. He also went on to tell me how he would modify his own parts to accommodate a Nitrous install I was doing (changing the timing with a shim) Poor mans porting sort of. The longest conversation I had with him was the first and it got worse after he had my money. I don't think it's a matter of not knowing what the customer is looking for. I understood what I wanted just, got caught up in his bullsh1t stories. He a con artist if you ask me and he's good at it. It wasn't till I figured that I was scammed that I found the searches on the forums.

Same experience except I never did give him money or anymore of my time once I heard him bash a well known builder so on and so on.

I know he pokes around here... What the hell are you thinking when you read this and how do you feel and sleep at night is what I wonder!

He ripped off stuff from three major engine builders I personally know, such as port specs, rave mods etc. Not a cool way to do business. If you can't do porting and mods yourself, just sell other shops kits. Lots of shops sell RK Tek, big bores, jaws pipes, mbrp cans etc. Just do the install or even supply only. Why bother trying to duplicate and make an ass of your self. Just my thought. Lol

Google "Terra Alps Racing Review" read down the list and tell me if you'd send your engine to the guy. Come on dude this is 2014. It's all at your finger tips. Good luck.

This thread should be a sticky so its always at the top of the thread lists so nobody supports this clown....I bought a k-mod from this ass**le, he took my money then no parts....4 months later I recieved part of my order, 1200bucks worth of parts were missing...so I got in touch with k-mod to see what was up...they told me my order would not be completed until Teds credit card had room on it....wtf...long story short after a huge fight I got all my parts....Ted will not answer the phone if he knows the call number, so use a different number when you want to bitch this idiot out !!!!

I know this is a old thread, but damn I got a good one.
I have never dealt or contacted this guy. That a hole Ted messaged me out of the blue about my big bore sled with my Arctic Edge built engine.
He claims that all the other builders do poor works and don’t get the hp they claim at all, his claim is 165hp at best and most are lower than that. Funny he also claims that he has no competition.

So glad I’ve never bought any of his stuff.
Boggles me that he is even still in business.

He trolls many of my posts and will go out of his way to contact some of my customers to tell them i'm an idiot. He told one customer that his clutching was far superior to my Altitude clutching, the customer agreed to to try it and compare to mine. Ted said he would send out a kit to compare with... nothing was ever sent to the customer. He's a different dude...
