So it's time to buy the boy his first set of wheels.
Are there any 'power wheels' out there that are any better then the rest??
I have zero experience in this department, but don't like buying garbage, and have no problem spending a little extra if it means saving some headache.
Thinking a 2 seater, and not real fussy if its a quad/truck/ or car.

Thanks in advance.

He's got a few peddle powers. Trouble is, its pretty tough sluggin across the grass and gravel in the yard, and as much as the leg workout is good for him, it would be fun to just drive around once in awhile.
Thanks though :)

i bought our 2 year grandson a polaris 12volt atv he just turned 4 and he can go through 2 batteries in 2-3 hours has 2 forward speeds and reverse. i made a hitch for it and he pulls a little plastic dump trailer.if i bought another one for a 2-3 year old i would go with the new 24 volt polaris they make a sxs and a 2 up atv more power and have the same features. so if i were you go for the 24 volt my little monster is in top speed all the time so next year he will move up to the 90 eton atv . if you buy one get a second battery right away they don't like to wait for the 8 hours it take to charge it

Thank you. A few sales people have said there is no difference in the voltages, but I find that hard to believe.
Im with you in getting the 24.

The gator with the dump box is pretty sweet. In the same boat but decided to focus on the pedal bike first..see how that goes.

Have a 2 1/2 YO daughter and looking for something similar.. We have a stryder bike, couple leg power machines but hard for her to get around if it's not cement or pavement..

24V would be a better option, electric is nice cause i wouldn't have to worry about gas or oil for the wife, plug it in and GTG, they can use it any time.. RZR looks pretty cool, seat belts, roll cage so it's pretty safe - gator looks awesome but not as contained for the kiddos..

7 years ago I got hold of a Chinese quad and dune buggy in kind of a cut your losses situation. Just half an hour ago the kids were out playing with them again. The quality of the Chinese stuff is not great but for the cost they worked out well for me. These 2 units are on their fourth kid and even the older ones (13 yrs) still ride them some. I particularly like the dune buggy. It has a 110 cc engine and a semi auto 3 speed transmission, so it goes okay in the higher gears, which the younger kids don't yet know about. It also has a full roll cage and a low center of gravity. The kids love it and I like the safety of it. I know this thread is about younger kids, but this is a good option for 6 year olds and up.

I've thought about going that route, and very likely will, just not quite yet.

All good fun. For me the decision between a brand name $3000 quad and a $800 knock off was the decision to ride or not to ride.

problem is i live in town and the neighbours would not like it if they rode the gas atv on the sidewalk

sounds like you need new neighbours.:) Just kiddin, in your situation I would probalbly go with the 24 volt as well. But you should probalbly get some old bike tires and glue the tread part of the tire on the drive wheels for traction on grass and when climbing curbs. our 10 yr old had a little dune buggy when he was 3 and it went a lot better with the rubber tire glued to the drive wheels. Best of luck to ya. Cheers...

We bought a 110 hummer quad new, yes it had issues, but went through both kids and was road hard

At 700 new, both kids and sold for 450 it's a no brainer to go cheap

The out size and out ride them in no time, y spend 3000

sent while I should be drinking tea's

If you can ride a two wheeler and land a little plywood jump a bunch of times without crashing, you're allowed to start on the PW50 around my place... Lol

12volt only IMO the 6v work in the house but that's about it. We have a 12v John Deer tractor with trailer. It's been awesome, I bought a second batt with it. We take it camping he hauls firewood etc. if it went missing today I'd buy another this afternoon.

If your thinking of going the small quad 50 rout I have one for cheap I Bought it for my nephews and they are onto dirt bikes now I don't really have a set price as I am just going to split the money and give it to the nephews again ...make me an offer !!! Its either I sell it or I'm building a hitch for and keeping it as a beer cart lol
