Idling your dodge truck in park is hard on transmissions. Should put them in neutral. If they are still stock. If they are rebuilt they should be modded.

I was told mine could not be modded when it was rebuilt. Your talking about cooler flow right.

The 68rfe's stock, flow fluid through the cooler and converter in park. It was just the 47/48re's in the 5.9s and all other 727 based trans since 1962 that had no flow in park. But could easily be fixed by modding the valve body.

Well my 2016 duramax is going to the dealer tomorrow. Major oil leak around the bell housing. Hope I get it back before the long weekend. Hard to haul a 41' toy hauler with a loaner vehicle.

My neighbors 16 did this also as well 3 times in the shop for emission issues in 6 weeks. Hope they get it done for you before the long weekend.

I've had an 03 dodge 5.9 with a 6 spd standard for over 12 yrs now. Been a good truck. Would be nice to have a new clean ride but haven't heard the greatest things about the newer motors or trannies. Starting to show a little rot so I'll have to break down and do something sooner or later. the dodge and Chev are both good looking trucks imo.

I wouldn't still try lol. It's not your truck. But it's probably the rear main so can off I bet!

An oil pan gasket on a new vehicle seems unusual. Any thoughts as to whether bad material, poor installation or bad design of the original? At any rate, if this is the worst that comes along, it will be a fantastic truck for you. It always interests me that despite the close manufacturing tolerances are and the considerable quality control efforts during assembly just how different one vehicle can be from the next in line.

It seems like it happens a fair bit on the duramax, but this is just by the forums. So it may just be 1 in 1000 that do it, not sure. I have made a post on the one duramax forum to see if anyone else has had it happen.

Problem is its just silicone, and a computer does it the first time

Most I fix, I find a few bolts loose, then silicone seal breaks

Might also be from engine vibration or not getting bolt in far enough before silicone gets in threads and gives ya a false tight bolt
