I managed to use a shoelace on my wife's turbo R. Coming off was easy. Going on required her assistance to pull the spring up in to place using a spring puller. I was not able to get the right angle with just a lace.

Ya I never had an extra hand when I did it. Got them off easy, struggled getting two of the springs back on with the lace. Got the tool and it was about a minute later I was done lol.

Sounds like the tool I need. Had no issues on my gen4 turbo, but the gen5 was not pleasant.
