Best snow tire for a 1 ton?

I haven’t been impressed with a cooper tire. Bought my wife’s jeep with them on and they were the loudest tire I’ve ever heard.

Parents had a set of coopers on a dodge 13 1/2 ton, they were bald within 40000kms. It driven like a car to boot. Went to firestones now. Im a duratrac fan.

I ran WT1 for three winters and then 12 months of the year on TA KO2, I haven’t gone back to a dedicated winter as I think the Ko2 are pretty good if newer. If I went back to winters I’d stud them as I think it’s tough for tire manufacturers to make a tire soft enough for a decent winter on a one ton.

I heard TOYO MT’s in 37 ‘s half wore out and truck lifted 8-10 inch’s work great ?
Wider tire the better !!

Except they are Toyo CTs. Slightly better on ice than the MTs but they arent the best.

Hard to get a good 37inch ice tire lol

General Grabber Arctic LT, studded. Second winter coming up. So far they been quite good. Rated well.

Ran a set of Hercules Avalanche studded in past. A more aggressive tire. Great in deeper stuff.

I'm a fan of Good Year dura tracks, have them on both plow trucks. Had dedicated winters and they didn't do great in deep snow.
I ran them on My Ram 3500 and they were the fastest wearing, vibrating, noisest tire I have ever run. They are okay on our 1500 shop truck but still like driving on a washboard. Definatley not a tire for the highway.

This will be the third winter on my nokians on my one ton. A little over 25k on them, look about half worn. Studs are getting rounded off but still there and working. Tread is wearing evenly and still relatively soft. Can’t complain.

Interesting, must have been something wrong with them if they had that much vibration. Yes they are noisey and wear quicker than a street tire but they are a mud tire and they chew very well. I'll take the noise and not have to be yanked out of a snow bank.

I drive the highway alot. 180k on my 2018 Ram 3500. I used to buy tires for snow capability but now care more about not sliding off the road and get killed. Now I run ice tires and and am actually seeing longer life than a dedicated snow tire.

Thanks guys, a lot of information to consider. I am leaning towards the Sailun's with studs. I run Sailuns ST's on my trailer and they are amazing. For the savings vs other brand names i figure you cant go wrong.

Had a set of the General Grabber Arctic LT's on my last CC Diesel truck, and they were fantastic!!
Currently have a set of Duratrac's on my company work truck (1/2 ton), and they are decent overall. Very good on gravel and winter traction, but absolutely horrible to drive down the highway. Sure glad they're not on my personal truck. The constant shimmy, shaking, out of balance vibrations at highway speeds drives me crazy.

I just put a new set of Duratracs on the work F350. Got 90k out of them. I've never noticed any balance issues. They got noisier with age. I swear they worsened my fuel economy about 1 l/100 vs what ever l had before.

They definitely opened up the tread pattern on the latest version. Probably 20% less tread area and noisy from the start. Probably not going to wear as well.

I wouldn't trade anything for my studded Hakapelitas on the sled rig as far as 'get you to and from the mountains safely in the winter' goes.

BFG K02. I got 80k on my 2500 which was all sled deck and trailer towing and still have 3/16 left. I had 285’s and was cautious not to overinflated to prevent Center wear. Just bought another set of them

studded Hakapelitas, best tire for the winter for sure. On my third season on the 3500 too!

Studded Nokians are the only way to go.

What gets me is people that buy winter specific tires that aren't studded. Its easy to drive in snow, ice is a different matter entirely and studs can literally be a life saver.

On your trailer is no comparison to the vehicle pulling. I wouldn’t compromise the cost of a tire with highway safety. I would sooner spend a few hundred extra per tire and know I’m safer. You typically get what you pay for with most tires.
