what is the best deep snow sled for under $4000? im looking for somthing easy to throw around thats not under powerd (perferably with reverse). I know the best power to weight ratio is a big 800 but my dad wont let me go for one :(

98 RMK 600 comes to mind! lol Seriously, you have a great sled already! Master what you have and when you move up to larger more powerful sled you will be ready for it...physically you will be getting bigger and also you will have gained a lot of experience riding a very capable sled.

I had a 2001 zx800 151, loved it, but my brother had a 2002 zx 700 144 with rer....U need/want rer. The 600/700 all go just as fast a 800 as far as injury goes. If I was a smaller guy/girl I would pull the trigger on a 700 they are a little snapper fun sled. But I would not trade it for my Rev in a millon years. ZX to REV is a big differance. P.S 800 is way easier to resell! Just peel the sticker off the 800 and tell Dad its a 600!!

true, but its not a comfortable as a ZX chassis and it doesnt have reverse. I would like to invest in a ZX chassis becuase they look awsome, the ski-doo dealer is like 2 min away from my crib, and moast people I ride with ride a DOO. My dream sled is a rev xp not no arti-scrap or any yamacrap (sorry if I afended anyone there ). I WANT A :skidoo:

I went from a 97 700 RMK to a 2002 ZX 700 Summit a few years ago, and to be quite honest with you I was very dissapointed with the ZX compared to my RMK. The 700 Rotax motors were rock solid reliable, but not really a powerhouse without some serious clutch mods. I'd seriously consider just staying with what you've got till you can afford to go newer than the ZX.

I'm riding an M1000 now, and I still own and love the M7 I bought after the ZX. Night and day difference! You should try one! :d Starting to see quite a few of them around $4000 too. No reverse though.:(

$4000 will buy you a pretty good sled right now. You could easily get into a rev 800 if you wanted to like a 04 or 05. Or if you went to a 600 like a 06. Sleds are dirt cheap right now, very good time to upgrade. Heck, a 05/06 RT1000 could be had for like $4500 right now maybe even less! I couldn't get $5000 out of mine, many others still trying i'm just keeping mine. People giving sleds away. They got good power to :d

Personally i've rode a zx and then rev now rt. Zx is ok but man the rev/rt is so much nicer to ride, I wouldn't go back. Even with the rer the zx just feels old and outdated chassis. So much more rider friendly with the newer sleds.

for 4000 get a summit 800/700 zx like everyone else has said. just picked up a low km 800 151 for 4200

the 700 will be more reliable. but if you can handle the 600 you can handle the 800

Andre, you should try an 02 Edge RMK...way ahead of the SX chassis IMO...and if you can afford it all the latest generation chasiss are even better. I like the power and torque the Polaris twins make. Cyle is right...lots of great deals on many different sleds. I have seen many super mod sleds for sale in your price range if your dad would let you ride one of the more powerful models.

It is pretty easy to sink a few grand into a sled trying to build the ultimate ride. Trying to sell them you usually only get a fraction of that back if you are lucky. Many of my old sled buddies would buy a new sled every 2 years. During that time they would mod them with some of the latest mods and when they upgraded one of us would get first dibs on the sled at half of what he had into the sled.

I had built up my 600 for instance, then it lost compression after a hard mountain ride so I found a LRM built 700 to install in it's place. The sled wailed, made a lot more power and I was happy again. Then I tried an 03 RMK 800...only mod was tuning and an exhaust can. It easily out performed my LRM powered sled except for out and out top speed...my 136 inch track machine would go faster than the 151 machine. The next day I found out my riding buddy was selling his 02 800 RMK...that night it was mine...for half of what I had into my 98 machine (bought new).

My "new" sled was dialed in perfectly for my weight and riding style. All of the best mods for making the sled as light as possible were done already as well as a few engine and clutch mods. The only thing I added was an LED flashing tail light and I was out riding. You can find many of these same sleds now in your budget range.

We used to climb mountains with fan cooled sleds...it took us longer and some days we did not get very far compared to the sleds we ride these days. My 98 RMK (when it was totally stock even) was a huge upgrade for our adventures out to the hills! I still love riding it!

Of all the injuries I ever had, my dirt bike ones were always much worse than anything ever done on a sled. You have a bike do you ride responsibly?

The biggest difference with an 800 over a 600 is that if you ride the mountains and get into a spot thats hard to get out of, the 800 is gonna get you home and you might find yourself stuck at the bottom of a hill after dark and your Dad wondering what happened to you with a 600. Not saying that is always the case, but it happens.

If your gonna end up with a 600 no matter what, there are some smoken deals to be had on kiji for '04/'05 Rev's with 144's and 151 right now. $4000 will land you one of them if you are patient.

I can ride resposibly on my bike, sometimes I dont though  I never crash or hurt anyone but I put myself at risk some times. I dont realy ride mountains that much becuase my dad never takes me. I would like to more but I have limited opertunites. one of my freinds dad has a 2002 rmk 800 151, I like the power bit it kinda has a wierd feeling to it (could just be me). Here are some sleds im intrestid in...

For $1000 more than your budget you could have this if it is still there...not sure if there is a catch or not but appears to be a good deal given the mileage...

Looks like the stickers are off too so you could pass it off as a 600

keep lookin you might get lucky and find a 03 rev for ariound the 4k mark. but if not get the 670 that someone has put a 151 or 146 under. you will run with your buds 800s all day and be lighter and have money left in your pocket for fuel. but stay away from ones with pipes if you don't know for sure they are the right pipe-engine combo as these engines can be a pain in the azz if pipied and not done correctly. good luck.

You sound like a responsible young man. I read a couple of your posts and found out you are around 14 years old. The Edge RMK you rode may take some more weight and muscle (not sure how big you are...my one nephew was just about 200 lbs solid muscle at age 14) for you to appreciate it's better chassis.

Mine has a titainium steering post (from a Verticle Escape)that is slightly taller than the stock one...really helps for tipping the sled, carving and sidehilling...besides that...I am usually standing up all day to the added height of the bars works great. Once I got used to the longer track, taller center of gravity and more hp I was going WAY more places with this newer sled. I like it because it is also very easy to work on. No it is not the latest greatest machine but it still gets me in and out of trouble just like the rest of them. lol

im a 120 pounds  I have to sell my old sled first, I listed it for $2650 wich is a decent price for it. Im thinking of trading my sled for a dirt bike or a quad of some sort so I could have the upper hand on this time of season. Ive had VERY good luck with trading. thats prety much how I got my sled and dirt bike. also, I got someone to have a look at my sled (rebiuld wise) he did some work to see why the 1 cylendar was low on comp. I dont know what he did but now that side is making 117 psi :d:d and the other has 120 psi :d
