Hi I'm just looking for any input on which sled would be best for my size. I'm 6.0ft 245lbs I'm a cat guy and pretty much always been one I currently ride an 09 m1000 which has plently of power to throw me around I just find that the seat is way too low for my height. I just can't get comfy especially when doing a bit of trail riding. I rode a buddy's 2013 pro rmk and was blown away at how comfortable I was because the seat is much higher than mine. I'm in the market for a new 2014 sled and I'm willing to switch brands if it means comfort. I havnt driven a new cat yet so I'm not sure how I'd fit on one. So any opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Go find a 14' M8000 but with e-start as the seat is higher (and I think a bit firmer) than non-e start. With the adjustable handlebars, I am sure it will fit you quite well. The new 800's are roughly the same HP that your 1000 has but you will find the new chassis is much more pleasurable to ride.

My only problem is e start weights quite a bit more but I guess sometimes you have to compromise. I definitely want to stick to cat. I'm kind of curious about the new sumits though.

why stick to a brand just because you own that brand, how will you know anything else if you dont try?

I say try a popo or a doo, dont like it? go back to cat next year... they cant even give the 12/13 models away

I do agree I'm just a brand loyal person and I do like how reliable cats engines are. Its just hard to switch brands because i don't know much about them but I guess the only way to see is to try them.

stay away from a 12" if you can help it... 13' are good. If you find a 13' ltd (I just got rid of mine with 700 miles), it has many of the same features of the 14' with front cooler, etc.

I am roughly your height & size and I found out that I had a lot of life left in me at the end of a ride vs my previous '11 Crossfire ltd. The new chassis is much better. When standing, I can pretty well stand straight up now with the bars raised where before I was a bit hunched over and found that that lead to a sore back over time.

Yah, 30 lbs more but with the front cooler, you have almost no rear ice buildup compared to what you are riding now.

My son bought the no e-start M8000 ltd and I find his seat is lower and softer.....ok for his young knees but not mine.

That's exactly what I'm looking for, not to be totally dead at the end of the day. I went sledding in McBride this weekend and the trail to renshaw is like 28km and man on the way back I got the s**t kicked out of me. And yeah my m1000 is a beast to throw around even with all my weight lol. But I must say it climbs very well.

Im 6'2 230 and just picked up a 13 ltd m8 from Cameron at argyll and he gave me a good deal 12800 out the door and it's got the 14 updates already and I love it
Nice! That does sound like a good deal. I think I'm leaning towards that 13-14 cat . Thanks for the input!

Try all brands. I have beena polaris owner since 1977 and switched to skidoo because of the etec and the poor engine quality of polaris. Didn't like the cat. I wasn't too picky untill it came to reliability

Yeah in the end you can't argue with reliability.

I am a couple inches taller and about 20# heavier. I put a 5" riser on my Dragon's Protaper bars. Best standing ride I have ever had on a sled. So far no damge on roll overs in the snow. It does not fit well when it comes to sitting down while riding when your legs get pooped... just sayin

If you're curious about a Summit, I would try to get a ride on one. I came off an 11' HCR and a 10' TM8 and bought a 13' Summit. I'm 6'3" 240lbs without gear and the sled fits me great. Super comfortable and the steering feels perfectly natural (IMO). It's the only sled I've never run a riser on. And you mentioned reliability, the Doos are proving themselves pretty bulletproof and you can't deny the ETech motor is a beauty. Try one out before you make a decision, you might like it. ;)

Yeah I might just take one out for a test drive. I went sledding with a couple guys who had sumits and I couldn't believe how well they climbed especially with a 3" track on them.
