If you're using a DSC wired system, you just need an iHub and then the cameras. But you're monitoring price will go up to provide you with the interactive functions, etc. This is what I'm running. I have 5 cameras as well as all the door, motion, overhead, smoke, flood sensors, etc. You can also add thermostats, dead bolts, lamp modules, etc. to the interactive system.

My dog can hear anyone coming up our 300 foot driveway! She makes it VERY clear that they should not be there! She will rip any guy a new ass if he is wearing a hat or coveralls! She came from Mexico, so I guess my alarm is made in Mexico! Lol.

My parents bought a very inexpensive camera system that has up to 4 cameras. They each need power but send video footage wirelessly back to the main unit. It works off of motion sensing, might be able to record continuously as well not sure. I can ask them the brand if you are interested.

Well after a lot of research we went with Nox.
Full system with 2 way voice, door bell camera, outdoor camera, front door and garage doors all open closed and locked by the cell phone. I added all the extra sensors etc.

It has been in for 2 months now. Accidentally set it off. They call on voice on panel as well as the cell phone to check if everything ok.

Very pleased with the system if anyone is looking for one.

When my "term" runs out (4 yrs I think, so 1 more year) I am going to self-monitor. Honestly, what is the point of paying someone to monitor your alarm in this day and age of personal communications. Mine has gone off 3 times in 3 years, all false alarms due to new house settling, door contacts go off. Every time, I get a call...I ask, did you send the cops? "No, we have written here not to do that". WTF? So I race home...

Add this gizmo: http://www.eyezon.com/?page_id=176
Add a couple of IP cameras with phone app. Done.

I have my house in Calgary with a monitored system. I have had the cops come after I entered the house and forgot to shut it off. I talked with the security guys but could not provide the proper code (forgot) so the police were called. Cost me $75 for the false alarm but I am okay with that. In my cabin in the mountains I am going to try a self monitored system.
