2 stroke oil in the fuel tank was a thing too. Issue for common rails is the additives in the oils can deposit themselves in the injector and nozzle with the high temepratures and cause issues.

Never had a issue with either of my 6L, still using one as a work/farm truck. My dad bought my 6.4 off me and it did awesome until he had the wrong guy try and tune it and dusted the motor. Still the 6.7 is far superior

The odd one was really good. Most not so much.

I’ve had a few trucks over the years. 05LLY, 07 LBZ, 16 LML, 97 Powerstroke, 03 LB7, 20 L8T Gas 3500HD and I went down this road a few months back after selling my 20.

I ended up with another ‘03 LB7. Unmolested. No emissions so I never have to worry about that and it’s solid truck not like the new Chinese pop can trucks they’ve made since 2020. I really liked my old powerstroke to with the 5 speed manual for what it was. But those ones lacked a few feature comforts and less hp compared to the ones built the past 20 years.

My list
08 srw 3500 mega cab,
2012 dually MC
2012 srw 3500 MC
2012 srw 3500 MC
All chipped and deleted the same
The 08 pulled the hardest and ran the best, I’m told that year I TER cooler was bigger.
I always ran on the tow mode pulling the tranny time made big difference.
I just sold my last 12 to the USA.
I borrowed a buddy’s 2013 Ford F-350 dually to pull my toyhauler to Kelowna…. It’s a stock truck and I hate to say it but it pulled way better that my dodge ever did.
I chalk it up to the 6 speed tranny keeping it in the torque range.
My next truck will have min 6sp. I’m kinda done with the Dodge game, love the motor, hate the wrapper syndrome! Tired of bad lights, bad seats, rusted out floors oh and front end issues, ball joints steering breaking etc

Power joke haha

F450 suck. Maybe the 350s are better.

Only difference is gear ratio. Even my brother in-law who is a diehard Chevy guy knows better, ford will out pull that dirty max all day long and I would put money on it.

Depends on the year, 11-14 Powerstrokes look good on paper, but the tiny turbos of those years run out of legs real quick at higher rpm. Even deleted my '14 needs 45psi of drive pressure to make 22psi of boost. You loose a pile of hp pushing 750cfm of airflow at 23 psi on the exhaust stroke.

The Duramax is a solid motor, I'd buy one again, but I like my Powerstroke too. Either one will comfortably keep a Cummins powered Ram in your rearview mirror though.

Problem with GM is the cab is too small. Back seat is built for small kids with short legs.
Ford cab is the best I’ve seen compared to a MC.

ATF thing was back in the day with mechanical pumps, sure wouldn't do it with newer technology.
So whats diffrent now . You still have a pump and Injectors . Some people think it may cause problems with EGR and Particular filters but thats about it .
