Begginer sled for my wife

Hey everyone i was just wondering if anyone had some advice in a begginer sled for my wife
She is a small girl so im thinking a 600, would like to stick with polaris just for convience factor
We will mostly be riding in the mountains
Any advise will help thanks alot

Rmk 600 she'll be able to throw it around if she has to and it won't be to heavy and think who's gonna be getting it unstuck so you definetly want it to be light

Im fairly new to the sport myself, im looking at a 2008 600rmk
R they a pretty solid sled
Also do u think a 155 would be to much for her to handle

I think a 155 would be good especially if your gonna be riding in the mountains it'll float better then the shorter tracks so she won't have to have the track speed up as much

As far as I know the 600 rmks some of the polaris guys on here will know more about that but I think it was just the 800 that had some problems

The Polaris 600's are bulletproof and go pretty good. I think it's a great choice.

I rode with a guy who had an 08 rmk 600 and you'd be surprised at how well that sled ran for a 600. Very strong and fairly reliable.

We have an 07 600 144" RMK and it's been an awesome ride, very light and responsive. The Polaris 600 engine gets good reviews from the sled media and has a good track record for reliability. The 155" track would be the best choice if your riding mostly in the mountains.

I still have a 09 600 RMK 144. I have 2900kms on it, mostly flat land off trail riding. I took it up to the mountains a couple times last year. This was the first time of me riding there, the snow was set up pretty good and I had no issues with horsepower, just my lack of skills of riding in deep snow I did a compression check this fall and I am at about 125# both cylinders, which means I am coming to the the end of the engine life, so I will be doing the top end rebuild later this year or early next spring.
From one new moutain rider to another: My advice to you and your wife - Go to the ZAC Tracs AST 1 course Classroom and Feild Verification. You get a great education of what to do to stay out of trouble and then what to do if you get into trouble. You will meet losts of people there and some very experienced discussion about what to get for the your Avy gear and more importantly where to ride as Beginners.

Had a lady riding with us last year who had a 2011 or 2012 RMK 600 and I was very impressed at how that sled performed in the hills. I think that would be an excellent sled for a lady or anyone who is looking for a reliable lightweight sled with great power.

That is some good advice right there! of the 800 or so miles on our (her) 600 she has mabey 50.

i've got '07 600 rev for sale (real cheap too). i rode that thing for years in fernie, radium and golden. I never had a hard time keeping up with anybody. check it out in the skidoo classifieds.

If you are buying the sled so she can ride with you and you are riding in the mountains it matters what you ride. Although not published on the Polaris website there is usually a considerable difference in horsepower between a 600 cc. sled and an 800 cc sled. If you ride a bigger sled with a longer track even if she is small with a smaller motor and a shorter track she will likley not be able to go into all the places where you can go if you have a bigger sled with a longer track. This means either you will not be able to ride in certain areas you would like to go as you have to hang back with her and you will be pissed off or you will go into areas she cannot get into leaving her behind and then she will be pissed off. If you are riding together and both riding 600 - 155's you are good to go but if you are riding together and you are riding an 800-163 and she is riding a 600-155 I see some potential conflict. If you really like her and you plan on riding together I suggest you ride similar sleds.
